1987 Corvette Hatchback

Description

Up for auction is this 1987 Corvette hatchback.I got this car as part of a deal when I sold my previous toy. I drove it home for about 20 miles and parked it, slowly going over the entire car. I am listing all the little issues as best as i can and from what i have found. So please read everything and do feel free to ask questions. Currently car is not registered but is parked in private parking and under a cover. NY title is clean.

All in all I think it is a solid car. The manual transmission shifts through all gears, the engine runs fine and strong. It pulls like crazy. There is no rust or rot and no leaks. The body is in great condition, the paint is 9/10. The car handles very well and goes straight down the road. Interior is in good condition with normal wear for its age. No rips. I was told that a new clutch was installed in the past, but i cannot verify. Carpet is in good condition and I am sure it will clean up nicely. Car also comes with the front license plate cover in case you are not required to have a plate in front.

Giving its age, it is in excellent condition with small things that need to be addressed. But all are weekend projects while you drive it, and I already started to address some and will continue to work on it while it is still in my possession. Again, please read all of the ad because i am also listing things I have already addressed.

Here are the issues I have found so far:power windows work but work a bit slowthe tachometer display works but does not show rpm when car is running ( i have the part to fix it)
the weather stripping needs to be replaced ( i have the complete set)
the lever to move from cold to hot gets stuck and does not move all the way to hotsomeone messed with the wiring and added a hidden push start button (it works but I would go over the wiring, maybe go back to how it should be)one relay in engine bay is melted but still appears to work (i have a replacement relay which will come with car)antenna does not extend or retractIt needs new tiressmall area with paint issue on bumper corner driver side, can be seen in pic.

Here is what i have done so far:replaced the hatch struts to keep hatch openfixed the center console light so it lights up when you open the lidfixed the underhood lights so they light up when you open the hooddriver seatbelt did not extend but i cleaned the mechanism and it is now working as it shouldnew fuel pump installed by previous owner

I just bought the tach filter to address the tachometer not displaying issue. Depending on time I will install itI ordered a new set of weather stripping for the entire car, doors, pillar, top, hatch etc. Again, depending on time I will install everything.I have replacement relay for the one that is melted as well as new pigtail. As I am still working on the car, I will updated this ad once I checked off another item.

Once the above things are fixed, and none of them are major, the car is solid and complete. If it doesn't sell I will keep it and register as a classic, which basically costs nothing. With spring coming soon, this Corvette will be a blast to drive, especially with the roof off.
