1971 Custom Chevy C10 truck

Description

I found the truck unmolested in Bakersfield California and bought it from the original owner. Virtually rust free, I replaced the right rocker panel and the radiator support. Otherwise this is all original metal, including the rare original tailgate. It was a highly optioned truck with deluxe Cheyenne Super interior A/C, PS, PDB, 350, auto, 12 bolt rear end, two tone paint scheme, full body trim, wood bed and tinted glass. Originally a bench seat truck.

Two year frame off – nut and bolt restoration. Everything was stripped to bare metal and restored. I replaced every bushing, every bit of rubber, fuel lines, brake lines, fasteners and painted and powder coated things that were not even painted at the factory.

New GM 4-bolt main short block 350 with aluminum heads 10:1 comp. professionally built by Martin High Performance in Sacramento California producing a tested 400+ HP at the crank. Performance cam, roller rockers, HEI ignition, 650CFM electric choke Holley carburetor, air gap intake, coated headers, aluminum radiator with dual fans, custom accessories (too much to list). Now on synthetic oil and runs regular gas. 700R4 4 speed overdrive trans-built to handle the power. 1800-2000 stall converter. Original 12 bolt rear-end housing with all new internals 373 gears, posi, axles and bearings. New universals on straightened and balanced drive shaft. Magnaflo exhaust.

Rebuilt power steering, 4 wheel power disk brakes (original type front, CPP conversion rear) drilled and slotted disks. Vintage air A/C, blows cold, Optima sealed battery. Sport suspension including front and rear sway bars, springs and shocks, lowered 4” rear, 3” front with drop spindles. 20”x8.5” Torque Thrust wheels and BF Goodrich G-Force sport tires.

Two-stage black and white paint in original pattern. All new trim, re-chromed steel, all new tinted glass. New grill set, lights, bezels, lenses, mirrors. Red oak bed boards with polished stainless slats. Gas tank is Blazer type located under the rear of the bed. There is a trick hidden fill behind the left tail light with a hidden release. Drives people crazy trying to figure it out.

Interior is all new. Buckets are aftermarket but with original deluxe style covers professionally fitted to look stock. New deluxe door panels, arm rests, carpet, tilt steering column, steering wheel, console, dash pad. Some new gauges including an 8 grand tach. After market stereo with 7 speakers.

The Build was finished in 2015 and I continued to refine. It is a reliable runner ready to go. Tracks straight and rides smooth on the highway. Feels like a sports car on winding roads. It even gets decent gas mileage if I keep my foot out of it. Everything works with the exception of the windshield wipers. The mechanism is all there but not working. This truck has not and would not see wet weather in my care and I don’t want to see swipe marks on the new glass. I have all receipts and a book of build photos that will go with the truck. The odometer reads actual miles since restoration.

Over $42k invested plus time. Most receipts available. A show winner, it has won: Two time 1rst place 70’s vehicle standing among Camaro’s, Mustangs and the like, best truck 4 times, Community Choice once and a few other lesser awards. Its a long bed truck that absolutely stands out above most short bed trucks of the same vintage.

It’s a runner, sounds healthy, solid and tight like a new truck or better. The stark paint scheme catches the eye and thumbs up everywhere I go.
