Description

1968 CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE WITH A REMOVABLEHARD TOP 4 spd Big BlockI am sure the question will come up, was this an originalBig block car. My best answer is I don’t know, we did pullthe gas tank (needed replacing and looking for tanksticker ) the tank sticker was not there, other indicatorsare the 6000 rpm red line on the Tach and 7 leaf rearspring the spring could have been changed over theyears Dash looks intact. So based on the above it couldhave been a Big Block or a high horsepower Small Block? So here is What the car is I will start with drive train. 396 Big Blockcasting number 3902406 indicating a 67 engine I was told byprevious owner the motor was rebuilt before theybought it, it runs well with no fluid leaks. Comes withheaders aluminum intake and holly carb. It has a nicecam Lope when idling, and will throw you back in theseat when you stomp the gas also barks the tires shifting int0 second and third, No exhaust smoke orfunny motor noises . It went to the shop to be checkedout before listin, New plugs, plug wires and points wereinstalled .. all fluids were check and toped off no otherissues were reported. Calipers were rebuilt with StainlessSteel inserts and new pads installed.
A new factory style radiator was installed along with anew fan shroud4 speed Muncie manual transmission that shifts wellwith no noises in any gear.Diff I believe is a 336 posi, checking the numbersThe paint is very respectable I would call it a 10 footer ithas the L88 Hood, both hard top and white softtop, paintis about 10 years and holding up well, minor chips somescratches. Somewhere in its 52 years of life the front clipwas changed to a 1970-72 (the 70’s were the years of custom body work and making your car your own) whoever did the installation did a GREAT job everything fits well and looks good, I did not see any indications of any frame damage or rust under the car it has a VERY clean frame . Its not a garage Queen it’s a custom daily Driver if you want it to be and it turns heads going down the road, the exhaust gives it a nice rumbleBLACK INTERIOR New door panels & Seats . carpet and dashes are in very good condition, I did not see any cracks in the dash,, the center shift console has a couple small cracks in it ( I ordered a new one) other than that I dont see any other issues with the interior. Speedo tach and gauges work, speedo has the Speed warning buzzer installed and it WORKS!!Wheels are original GM rally wheels, AZ 15x 8 with radial TA Tires with good tread so at the end of the day It is nice driver with Comfort and performance up grades.I have done my best to fully describe the car to the best of my ability I have been in the Corvette business for over 35 years I have a huge parts warehouse so if you don’t like what you se, we can change it and work it into the deal if you wish. Ouestions ? Please ask thanks for stopping By vetteSteve
