1988 Chevy G20 Sportvan 5.7L 318 LOW MILES NEW JASPER MOTOR
Description
This is a very loved very cared for 1988 Chevy G20 Sportvan. 5.7L 318 new jasper motor with only about 12k miles on it. There are around 93k miles on the chassis. I have owned this van since 2016 but it is time to pass it along to a new owner as I don't get as much use out of it anymore as I would like to. I have driven this van across the country twice and all around the US. I would take it cross country tomorrow without any hesitation. The jasper motor runs wonderfully. I made the mistake of having a "backyard" mechanic work on the van when I was strapped for cash in 2017. He did not secure a bolt all the way and about 1,000 miles later it wiggled loose while I was accelerating and blew the motor. That is why the motor was replaced. Cost about 6k and I have the paperwork for it. The van runs smooth and idles strong. I have a ton of paperwork from over the years from things I have had repaired. I also have the original manual and maintenance log from 1988. The alternator is about three years old. The battery is brand spankin new. The van has the following features:
-5.7L, 318 Jasper motor-93k miles on the chassis and around 12 on the motor-EFI-high top conversion-dual sunroof finished with stained glass coverings-Pop out windows on side cargo and rear cargo doors-Interior lights-power windows and locks-cruise control-new stereo system USB capable-Cedar plank interior, wood floors-storage cabinet/drawers-under the bed storage-turf grass floor in the cab area-insulated-Extremely comfortable captains chairs with arm rests-comes with camp stove and plates/cups/a few pots/utensils-6 inch memory foam queen sized bed (around 72 inches wide)-pop up cutting board/counter top with bottle opener on the cargo door-towing capabilities-spare tire-AC and Heat work-new weatherstripping on doors-no leaks-extremely minimal rust
cons-the weatherstrip on the doors is aftermarket so you do need to slam the cargo doors a bit to make sure they latch all the way-drivers side window has slipped off the track. the motor works I just have not taken this to get fixed-passenger side door needs to be pushed then pulled to open
This is a solid van for anyone looking to do some camping or traveling. It's been really good to me. These vans are tough as nails and are made to be on the road. There are times when Im cruising 70-75 where I truly, after all these years, can't believe how silent and strong the motor is at high speed. I get around 16mpg highway. Adding a house battery for appliances with an isolator to charge while you drive would cost someone around $500 or so. I never did this because I only need the bare minimum. I plug an inverter into the cigarette lighter and thats always been good enough for me to run electronics. Lots of potential for this van to have things added or just keep it as is like me and enjoy the van lifestyle.
