Frame off restored, no rust, functions like new!
Description
We have here a sleeper of all sleepers. A stripped down Biscayne with a 409-425 horsepower motor and a 4-speed. It is a western rust free car with 72,686 miles. It was frame off restored 15 years ago and sold at the Barrett Jackson Scottsdale auction. I personally drove this car home, it is a sweetheart. It performed and functioned like new. I just found the binder of documentation so I have added for information in this description.
EXTERIOR: The body is amazing, laser beam straight with no rust or damage. All the body panels fit perfectly square and flush. You can open and close either door with just your one finger. Repainted it's original Azure aqua color. The metal flake is laid out evenly, the clear coat is polished to a very high gloss finish. The grill is real good original, the front bumper has been rechromed, the moldings on the hood look new. The moldings down the sides and around the windows are new or restored like new. The bow tie mirror, emblems and door handles are excellent. In back the bumper was rechromed but there are some minor imperfections. It has bumper guards, original taillights are beautiful. It has the original glass. There are 4 original T-3 headlamps. It also has reproduction blackwall Goodyear tires on painted rims with a mint set of poverty hubcaps. The door jambs are very clean, the weather strips are very good.
INTERIOR: Pristine dash area. The metal is painted beautifully. The chrome knobs, heater controls, steering wheel, speedometer and lense are pristine. wheel, factory radio delete. Overhead it has a white perforated headliner in excellent shape, original visors and mirror, dome light works. The carpet was replaced. It also has reproduction upholstery on the seats and door panels. The armrests, window cranks, rear package shelf, everything is real nice. It has the correct 4 speed shifter for a bench seat with the little white ball.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has a correct 409 motor with the X cast on the front of the block. It is the 425 hp with factory aluminum intake and dual 4 barrel carburetors and solid lifters. The motor was rebuilt. Bored .30 over, has racing pistons, new bearings, ground valves etc. The correct Carter AFB carbs were rebuilt. It has correct fuel pump for a 425 hp. Also has factory chrome valve covers and the big dual snorkel air cleaner. It is upgraded with a set of headers, other than that the motor compartment is completely stock. It has the correct slant top 4 row radiator which was in 409s only. There are reproduction hoses, clamps and spring clamp battery cables. The squirters are hooked up and it has the glass bottle with extra washer fluid. The alternator looks new. Everything is very clean and proper. The metal is smooth and painted neatly. Has hood insulation.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Has rock solid, clean metal neatly painted with a grey and white spatter finish. The bottom of the trunk lid has it's original paint in excellent condition. The jambs are real clean with nice crisp factory seams, new weather strip. There is a painted rim with a bias ply tire for a spare. The complete jack assembly was cleaned up nicely. It has correct 3 piece mat.
UNDERSIDE: Frame off restored about 15 years ago. The front was rebuilt including bushings, ball joints, shocks etc. It has H.D. springs front and back. Looking up at the motor it still looks spotless. The starter is clean, it has correct screw on canister oil filter and a flywheel cover. It has a correct T-10 Borg Warner 4-speed transmission. Throw out bearing and clutch was replaced. The trans was apart and gone through by Advanced Transmission. In back it has 3.55 gears. The bushings, shocks and springs look good. The frame is painted a smooth satin black. The underbody of the car, inner rockers and lower quarters look completely rust free with factory undercoat. Exhaust is new and is neatly bent along the frame.
I went on a buying trip and bought 18 premium cars. When they were delivered this was the best of the bunch. Right off the truck it functioned like new. My whole crew was impressed!
