Description

C3 Corvettes continue to represent amazing bargains in the collector car world. This cool 1975 roadster has a fantastic Corvette look that emphasizes everything that we love about Chevy's fantastic plastic sports car: curvy lines, great colors, lots of performance, and plenty of options. Chevy called it Classic White, which isn't very creative, but it is indeed this car's original color. The finish is about eight years old and this roadster presents as a nicely finished '70s Corvette that is ready to enjoy without a lot of worrying about bugs and the weather. Fit and finish are good, probably better than new given how well the nose and tail fit, and for fans of the plastic-bumper cars, these roadsters are some of the best-looking Corvettes of all. Clearly this was a very nice car before the refinishing, as there are none of the usual signs of trouble in the fiberglass, and anything that needed attention got it during the makeover. There are a few signs of use and age, and on Corvettes, that's inevitable, but you'll never hesitate to get behind the wheel and GO! There isn't much chrome left on these cars after the bumpers were reworked, but details like the Corvette badges and crossed-flag emblems look crisp and bright. The standard black interior might just be original and if that's the case, it's in exceptionally good condition. The seat covers look right and aside from three splits on the outer seam of the driver's chair, there's really not much to complain about. Once you're inside, you'll note that all the gauges are fully functional and the options list includes cold A/C, power windows, and a tilt/telescope wheel. For summertime cruising, it has also been upgraded with an AM/FM stereo head unit in the dash and the A/C has been upgraded to R134a refrigerant so it's reliable and easy to service in the future. The black convertible top is brand new and fits beautifully, so once you master the action, it can be stowed in seconds below the rear deck. The engine is the original, numbers-matching L48 350 cubic inch V8. Mostly stock with a few dress-up items like a chrome master cylinder lid, it runs like the best small-block Chevys do. You'll find that the engine bay is correctly detailed but still very functional, making this Corvette just about right for enjoyment without making everyone turn up their noses with questionable modifications. There's correct Chevy Orange paint on the block and most GM cars in 1975 got the HEI ignition system, which makes a big difference in starting and overall performance. It's even inhaling through the stock air cleaner. The TH400 3-speed automatic transmission was intended for heavy-duty use in the Corvette, although judging by the condition of the chassis, this one has never been abused or driven in rough weather. The exhaust system sounds great, mellow but not too quiet for a Corvette, and with 4-wheel disc brakes, braking power is always impressive. It's finished off by a set of factory Rally wheels wheels wearing spinner center caps and 225/70/15 Uniroyal radials. The market is moving on these, and C3 Corvette roadsters are now not only great cars to own and drive, but icons that are finally getting the respect that they deserve.
