1976 Chevrolet LUV Mikado
Description
This is a really nice, original paint LUV. It is pretty much rust free. Most of what you need to know about this truck can be seen in the pictures of the bottom of the cab, the rockers, and the low parts of the bed. There is really very little rust anywhere. It still wears its original paint, and despite the fact that I had a hard time capturing the shine of the paint with my camera, it shines extremely well. It's also very straight. It has a little dent in the tailgate (see photos), one where the front bumper was pushed into the fender, and a couple very small inside-out dings from stuff in the bed sliding into the bed side. I tried to capture those in the photos. Also, the top has not been polished because I was going to re-paint it. A previous owner sprayed some yellow paint on a couple of spots. See the photos. Click the link for high-res photos. This is an honest little LUV. It hasn't had any modifications, and remains pretty much as it did the day it was bought.
The engine starts and runs smooth. It has recently been replaced with a 1978 engine with a new head. All original emissions equipment is still in place. It has an automatic transmission that shifts well. (It is acutally a GM TH350 as far as I can tell.)
The interior is that of a 40 year old, well-treated pickup. Everything works except the AM radio, which I haven't really tried to diagnose. The original carpet looks pretty good, with no holes or anything. The dash has couple small (especially small for a LUV) cracks. The seat has one or two tears (See photos). The seat springs are also a little broken down and could use some attention. Those are the negatives, but the positives are...look at it! It's brown plaid with chrome buckles! Coolest interior ever. Being a Mikado model, it has all the nice stuff, like carpet and a headliner. The headliner is in great shape. It's also very clean. Under the dash, under the seat, it lacks grime and dirt. This truck appears to have been garage kept and not used for much actual work.

I have driven this truck around the neighborhood, done some tuning, such as adjusting the valves and timing, and changed all the fluids, but I have not driven it more than 100 miles.
