Description

Immaculate and one of a kind, heavily modified 1959 Chevy Brookwood wagon that took 8 years to build. This custom wagon was designed to be late 1950s-early 1960s period correct but with driveability and cool factor in mind. It was a complete frame off build with every nut and bolt gone through. Every panel has been modified in some way shape or form except for the roof. The body has been channeled 4" in the front and 2" in the rear. Her body has been straightened and all the panels gapped and aligned correctly. When you look down the side of this car it is super straight. There is a tremendous amount of chrome in this wagon; all aluminum parts have been chromed as are both bumpers, headlights, valve cover, motor mounts, steering box, intake, and many more parts and pieces. All chromed parts have been triple-plated rechromed. The body was taken down to bare metal epoxy primed bodyworked and painted with Glasurit pearlescent light and dark greens paint and then clear coated (extra paint comes with the car for touch-ups). There's Hundreds and hundreds of hrs in sanding this cars . The hood was custom made out of another existing wagon roof and it flips forward to allow the car to sit ultra low. This green beauty was made from some rare speed parts including, a McGurk valve cover from the early 1950s and a 12 port head among other things. The engine is a 292 that has been bored 30 over mild Schneider racing cam and it sits in a fully customized engine compartment. The head has been ported, polished, decked, and has 9.5:1 compression. The custom made aluminum intake was made to adapt to 3 side draft SU carburetors. The headers are also custom made with 304 stainless steel as well as the entire exhaust system. She has a T5 5-speed manual transmission which is ideal for highway cruising and provides surprisingly good gas mileage (approximately 20 miles per gallon highway). The chassis has an adjustable air ride suspension, 4" c notch in the rea, 2"drop spindles up front as well as slammed specialty airbags, dual compressors, and an 8-gallon tank which are all hidden for a super sleek look. A lot of people ask where the air ride is hidden . Her tires are Coker G78s -3" wide white bias ply; hubcaps came from a '53 Buick. Naturally, the interior has been designed with the same attention to detail and period correct look. The steering wheel is a recasted '64 Pontiac Grand Prix. The dash was modified by relocating some of the gauges into the speaker grill and ashtray for a cleaner, more streamlined look. All 3 rows of seats are '59 Chevy styling but with 1960 houndstooth inserts and 1" tuck and roll on the tops. Carpet is German Square weave to fully complete the look.
This build was documented over the years on The HAMB as 1959 Chevy in progress. This award-winning wagon was been photographed and written about in several publications both nationally and internationally. Most notably she was featured in issue #64 of The Rodders Journal as well as Australian Street Machine. It won Columbus good guys builder choice award in 2014 As well as numerous other awards . I've driven this car to 15 different states for shows over the last two years including the lone star round up which was 1500 miles one way as well as Columbus Ohio .
