The bodies are produced in my shop located in Tampa, FL. The body will have to be picked up or shipped to wherever you are located. Typical shipping costs are $1000-$2000 depending on your distance.
Does it have a title?The car does not have a title. It is not an original car, it is a replica fiberglass body molded from an original 1958 corvette.
Each state has it's own rules for titling and registering a home built car. When you build the car it will be a builders title or a kit car title. We can assist in getting the car titled for you for an additional fee of $400.
Several frames can be used. It will fit on a 53-62 original C1 frame. It also will fit on custom frames. With some modification the 1978-1988 G Body GM Frame will work (monte carlo, malibu, el camino, grand prix, buick regal).
Will it use the original windshield and convertible top?This is a replica fiberglass body, the same dimensions as original. It can use all original chrome, glass and tops. These are not included, but all original off the shelf parts will fit this body.
How much of a deposit it required?We do not take normally take deposits, We currently have 3 bodies in stock available for inspection.
Where is the body from?The body has been modeled from an original 1958 Corvette.
What is included?All fiberglass pieces included: the main body from front to back, two doors, trunk, deck lid, hood, floor boards (all 5 pieces), center glovebox, inner fenders, and dash (which connects the body to the floor board).
How thick is the fiberglass compared to an original?
The fiberglass is about 3x thicker than the original and in certain places it's thicker than that for structural reasons, such as the door jambs and where the windshield mounts.
Can I use original/stock parts?
Yes, you can use original and stock parts with this body.
How much does the body and all parts weigh?
They weigh approximately 350 pounds and can be crated up and shipped.
What are the main dimensions of the body?
The overall size of the car is 14'6" and 68" wide.
Is the rotisserie support frame included?
No the rotisserie is not included with the purchase of the body. This is something we use when assembling the bodies.
Is there any steel support structure within the body?
There is no steel within the fiberglass body, it is a copy of the original
I'm trying to preserve an original car. Will the stock floor fit your body?
Yes, an existing floor will fit this body.
Do you offer any other years?
We mainly do 1958, 1959 and 1960. We can also do 1956 and 1957 with additional lead time and deposit.
Does the body come painted?
No, as with all fiberglass bodies of this type, you mount the car onto the frame and it requires prep work and sanding before painting.
What hood comes with the car?
You can either have the hood with ridges (1958 style) or without ridges (smooth - 1959 style). We have the molds for both.
Do the doors come mounted?
No, for $6500 you get all the fiberglass pieces unassembled. We can mount the floorboards and the doors for an additional $3000.
How much will it cost to put the car in a crate and prepare it for shipping?
The cost is $750 to crate the body and prepare it for shipping. When shipping the car a great distance, we can have the car cut in two pieces so that it takes up less space and you can have it reassembled at your location.
What is the red corvette pictured?
The red car pictured is a picture of a nearly finished cars, using our body. The red corvette is not included in the auction. You will be getting the black fiberglass body shown.
Is that a right hand drive corvette?
Yes, the red corvette has been converted into right hand drive. You can order the body with the dash on the right side or standard left hand drive. We have the molds for both. That particular car is being sent overseas.
