Its period correct 327 CID V-8 engine features an Edelbrock manifold, Holley carburetor and Hedman headers. Buttoned to this engine is a newly rebuilt Turbo Hydramatic 350 three-speed automatic transmission controlled by a Mr. Gasket floor shifter.
Wearing period correct Rally Red and white paint, this pickup is a highly collectible example with a two-year body-off restoration. During the restoration, the frame was stripped to bare metal and painted with black epoxy, the gas tank was relocated under the cargo bed and a power brake conversion was completed with new brake lines.
Truck has no windshield wiper arms and its speedometer and odometer are inoperable but it features a new chrome grille, bumpers, side moldings, with all-new glass and rubber seals. Out back rests a show-quality oak bed with stainless steel rails. This truck rides on aluminum 17 x 9 American racing wheels surrounded by Goodyear Fortera HL tires.
Complementing the two-toned exterior is new red and white interior paint, upholstery and a Grant three-spoke, white steering wheel.
The first generation of C-series Chevrolet trucks introduced a new body style of light pick-up truck that featured many firsts, such as drop-center ladder frame, allowing the cab to sit lower, and independent front suspension, giving an almost car-like ride in a truck. The cab roof used double walled steel construction unlike the other automakers who used a single steel roof. A coil-spring front suspension came in 1963, along with a new base engine, a 140 hp 230 CID I6 and an optional 165 hp 292 CID I6. The cab was changed for 1964, with elimination of the “wraparound” windshield and a new front grille design, along with various interior changes, keeping the original design on the body. Air conditioning and a 220 hp 327 CID V-8 came in 1965.
Current mileage on the odometer shows 95,000 miles, sold as is on an actual mileage California title.
