Description

Trucks are red-hot right now, and you won't find many nicer than this 1963 Chevy C10 pickup. Finished in dazzling electric blue paint and powered by a snarky small block V8, it has a sleek custom look that does nothing to diminish its utility. Fun and practical? Where do I sign up?The paint is somewhere between Marina Blue and Fathom Blue and it suits this pickup just fine. With a great blend of shine and '60s sensibility, it looks right and makes this truck stand out at shows. Chevy trucks in the '60s were stylish as well as tough, and it shows well with the deeply creased sheetmetal and forward-canted look of the doors and rear fenders. A few custom touches, such as the shaved door handles, deleted bumpers, louvered tailgate, and a cowl induction hood make it look sleek, not clumsy, and the work is seamless. Overall finish quality is quite good, with straight panels and good panel alignment, and they took their time to make sure the paint covered every square inch, even in the places that aren't immediately apparent. The bed has been augmented by a distressed wood floor, which is so much more eye-catching than the usual polished planks. It's no longer perfect, but the overall look will definitely get you noticed everywhere you go. Neat tricks inside keep things interesting, with an attractive black seat cover over the original bench, more electric blue trim, and upgraded instrumentation. Pull the door closed and you'll note new weather stripping throughout keeps it from slamming with that hollow whap most old trucks exhibit and gray floor mats on the floor improve both sound and heat management. A custom 4-spoke steering wheel atop a tilt column adds a racy, custom look inside and the original instrument panel has been dumped in favor of a custom engine-turned piece with big, retro-looking gauges and augmented by a column-mounted tach and a second vintage tachometer up on top of the dash. A modern A/C system uses the original controls, which is always a neat trick, and there's an AM/FM/cassette stereo system neatly mounted in the original radio's slot. Rebuilt with an .030 overbore, the 327 cubic inch Chevy V8 under the hood is just what you like to see in an old hauler. Potent enough to be fun, but still as reliable as an anvil, it is augmented with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and Performer EPS intake manifold, electronic ignition system, a mild cam, and a set of double-hump heads. The block has been painted to match the bodywork, as has the rest of the engine bay, giving it a very custom look. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a beefy 12-bolt rear, so you'll have an easy time driving it. A recent dual exhaust system has just the right sound, and for the right attitude, the front end has been lowered three inches and the rear end lowered two inches to give it a slick rake and tons of attitude. Those cool wheels are custom 18-inch aluminum designed to look like factory Rallys, and they carry 245/40/18 front and 255/40/18 rear low-profile rubber.Clean, useful, and fresh, this Chevy pickup offers a great combination that will never go out of style.
