The square-jawed third generation Chevy C/K pickups are growing in popularity every day, and the best ones combine the best original features with a few custom touches. This cool 1983 Chevrolet Silverado regular cab/long bed pickup sports an awesome bright red color combination, a smooth-running 350-inch V8, and plenty of features for the guy who wants a work truck to show on weekends or a show truck that can still go to work.Although it's not the truck's original color scheme, the vivid bright paint job that was done a few years ago was impressively thorough. There's simply no trace of the original paint anywhere on the truck; not in the door jambs, not even in the engine bay. The truck has never been rusty or damaged, and the incredibly straight sheetmetal is what makes the paint look so good, with great gloss and better than average panel fit. It remains totally stock, without so much as a cowl-induction hood to set things off, and you really can't argue with the results. All the original trim was replaced following the repaint as well, including the bright rub strips along the body, the Silverado badges, and bright chrome bumpers fore and aft that look awesome against the paint. The bed is protected by a spray-in bedliner and shows a few signs of use, but nothing serious and that means you won't be afraid to put stuff back there. Plus it's got a set of bed rails to help you tie it down properly. One of the strengths of the third-generation C/K pickups was their spacious and comfortable interior. With its original bench seat reupholstered in factory-looking red cloth and vinyl, it has a fresh look that's still ready to get some work done. Everything remains in excellent condition with only light wear and absolutely no splits or tears in the upholstery, and everything works as it should. Red carpets with black mats add a degree of formality to the interior, as well as helping to control noise and heat from underneath. A complete array of gauges keeps an eye on things underhood, and only the dash pad betrays its age, with a few splits on top due to a life obviously spent in a warm, sunny climate. The wood-rimmed wheel definitely adds some class to the interior and works well with the burled walnut appliques on the dash and door panels, and there's an upgraded Panasonic AM/FM/CD stereo in the center of the dash. Even the alarm is fully functional!A replacement 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 slips right in with zero modifications and thanks to decades of development, it remains as reliable as the day it was built. It's a bit grungy under the hood, but that could be erased with a day of detailing, and it really means that this sucker's a runner. It seems pretty stock aside from the bright orange Chevrolet air cleaner on top of a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and there are plenty of recent parts that mean this one is in great shape mechanically. It starts easily with a snarky rumble from the custom dual exhaust system, and thanks to the 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission, cruises effortlessly (and efficiently) at high speeds. The 10-bolt rear end is original and you'll note that this truck has dual gas tanks, which make for bladder-bursting range on the highway. Factory Rally-style wheels look sporty and are fitted with fat 275/60/15 blackwall radials so it has a great stance, too.If you're looking for a clean truck with no needs and a great color combination, you really can't do much better than this.
