Description

For sale is an original 1964 Corvair Monza Convertible. As you can see in the pics, the body is rough and is in need of a lot of work - work that's beyond my capabilities. I recently purchased this car and it needed a bit more time and effort than I bargained for, so I'm offering it for a low starting bid and NO RESERVE! Prior owner painted it flat black - some sort of rat rod look...to each his own I guess... Lots of good parts here though, and the top is in great shape, The motor needs some work too, as it's got a weird noise and leaks some oil (I'm told the oil leak is quite common). Carbs should be rebuilt. But the car starts right up. Parking brake doesn't work, has a gas seep in the line up near the tank. I have paperwork from the prior owner dating back to 1998 - he replaced a lot of parts from Clarks Corvair Parts. It has the original 13 inch wheels with pretty good tires.
Please don't ask if you can drive this car home. I absolutely would not. It is a candidate for restoration by someone who knows their way around sheet metal and the mechanics of a motor/carbs and brakes. Purchase this car for parts as well - as the top, hubcaps, hood, trunk lid, chrome, tires, carpet and trim alone are worth far more than the cost of the starting bid.
Sold As-Is with no warranty or returns. Description is all I know about the car, and it'll come with the repairs paperwork I mentioned as well as a bill of sale (Maine does not title cars this old). It's currently in South Portland, Maine. $500 deposit within 24 hours of close of auction. Balance via cash, a bank check, or money order within 3 days.
Good luck!
