1969 Chevrolet Camaro Base Hardtop 2-Door 5.7L
Description
1969 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe. Cowl tag indicates this Camaro was built in California as a white with black vinyl top coupe and white/black houndstooth deluxe interior package. It also came with factory A/C and factory power windows!! The power windows STILL WORK and the A/C worked until the compressor locked up back in the 90's and I never replaced it. It originally came with a 307 and a powerglide transmission, which I later replaced with a 365 hp 350 with a turbo 350 transmission back in 1988.
I have owned this Camaro since 1986. It was purchased in California and spent the next 30 years registered in Illinois, but also went with me to Colorado, New Mexico, and finally settling in Arizona. I drove this car throughout high school, during my time in the military, throughout college, and then it sat..and sat...and sat some more. Many years and 3 kids later, I'm finally ready to part with my dream car that I've had for over 30 years. Our recent move to AZ has left us with no room to keep it. It is currently in the garage under a cover, but it needs to find a new home with somebody who can get her going again and enjoy it.
It currently DOES NOT RUN. Years ago, I was having problems with the Quadrajet carb and decided to upgrade the manifold and carb ... I pulled the old manifold and carb off, but never got around to buying and putting in the replacement. This was back in the early 2000's. I would say the last time this Camaro ran was in 2002. It was always a very strong runner with a great sound. I also removed the radiator and it got misplaced...so it will need a new radiator as well.
Over the years, mice invaded and ruined the carpet and seat cushions. They also appear to have gotten up into the headliner and made nests out of the cushion materials as I can feel some lumps up there that never used to be there. So, it will need a new interior kit...at a minimum, it needs new carpet. My plan was to replace the entire interior with an all new reproduction set of black deluxe interior pieces because I never liked the white...in fact, back in 1986 I repainted all the white surfaces with black vinyl paint and it looked great for decades until the mice got in there and started to ruin it all.
The body is about as good as they get on an original that hasn't had any panels replaced. Being an original California car, the sheet metal is all in great condition with no rust holes or major repairs anywhere. As you can see in the pics, the floorboards are in great shape (residue from the carpet backing stuck to them now, but there is no rust and there are no holes anywhere). Even inside the trunk there are no rust holes. There is some surface rust that was caused when it sat outside for abouta month while waiting for transport to AZ...the trunk lid seals leak and water got inside. When I opened up the trunk it was holding about 3 inches of water in it .. I popped the drain plugs and let it all out, but it left a coating of surface rust...just needs cleaned and repainted. There are a couple of minor dings in it and there are rust bubbles starting to form up near the back window glass by the top of the trunk...very minor and still at a point where it's an easy fix. All the glass is in great shape and all of the chrome and trim is there.
Any questions, just ask.
