Description

This heavy duty G-20 custom conversion van located in the Adamstown Pa Antique co-op area, Exit 286 Pa Turnpike. It has been used for many different purpose over the last 27 years: business, hobbies and recreation. Some of the uses include : Antique shows, from vintage furniture to antique toys, art and craft shows, flea market sales and garage sale picking, buying and selling at auctions, sports memorabilia and hobby shows, antique auto and motorcycle shows and swap meets, hunting, fishing and camping trips, tailgating at auto races and sports events. It has been used to safely transport antique and custom motorcycles to Daytona Beach FL, for selling antiques at Brimfield MA and vintage auto parts at Hershey PA. Depending on how many seats you remove it has plenty of cargo space and is still comfortable enough to spend the night in. What you can’t fit inside can easily betrailed,it still rides nice, and has been well maintained.

The Silver Eagle was built by the Contemp Van Co. of Warren, Ohio. It was never intended for everyday use. The original owner used it for his business of repairing and restoring antique grandfather clocks. It was used mostly for local and out of state pickups and deliveries and occasionally selling at antique shows on weekends. At some point in time he had a local shop add an additional truck cap to the roof, giving him the additional height he needed for the clocks. We acquired the van from his widow, as it also met with many of our requirements. Just looking at the condition of the upholstery, you can see how well the van has been taken care of .

We’ve divided the description into three parts: Interior-Exterior and Mechanical

INTERIOR: The van seats 7, with (4) very comfortable captain’s chairs that recline and revolve 360 degrees with folding arm rest and storage pockets. The rear seat fold down to a 46” x 60’ bed that is easily removed with 4 wing screws or the rear seat can be turned to either side. The two middle chairs can also be easily removed or turned 180 degrees to face the rear passengers. Van has cruise control. There are (6) over headcourtesylights, (4) side ash trays, (3) fold out cup holders and an 18” round table with 4 cup holders that can be relocated in two different places. The radio has 4 speakers (not the best) with a rear overhead entertainment compartment with a small( working) B&W TV (12 volt and 110) there are two additional 15”x 16” storage compartments for an older VCR (used with the TV) or a CD or DVD player (not included). There is (1) 110 volt outlet in the back of the van with a 26’ extension cord for trailer park or campground electrical hook ups. To secure your cargo or motorcycle there are (9) tie downs on the floor and sides. The large side windows have tinted glass, sliding screens and privacy shades, with decorative curtains on the windows and doors, the side and rear doors have swing out windows but no screens. The front center console (engine cover) has storage compartments, two map pockets, drink holders. The drivers overhead console has built in cassette tape holders, light switches, sun glass pockets, sun visors and a vanity mirror. The foam backing on some of the cloth upholstery on the side walls has dried and had to be re-glued resulting in the upholstery becoming darkened, there are also some water stains. The rugs have typical dirt stains and some rust stains from where the rear seat is fastened to the floor. The opening cut in the original roof (41”x76”) should have some finishing moldings added to give it a better appearance, as the roof insulation is visible. Some of the wood molding and trim work including the table has become dulled and could use a clear coat. (All these conditions are shown in the additional photos). Interior sizes: the section of the original roof that was removed = 41’ x 76”. The truck cap that was added later = 56’ x 78” the cap has two sliding windows with screens on the sides and a tilt-up rear window; it still has its original white interior paint. The ceiling height in the middle of the van = 7’. If you remove the two center chairs and the rear seat your cargo area would be 5’ wide X 9’ long and 7’ high.

EXTERIOR: The van was re-painted in 2004, the total length including the spare tire =17’-7” with a width, (not including the side mirrors) of 6’-6” the total height = 9’-6”, it does not fit under some fast food or bank drive up windows. The side doors open to 48” x 48” the rear doors open to 48” x 54”. The van is equipped with a heavy duty trailer hitch, aluminum running boards and mud flaps, exterior spare tire with chrome cover, a ladder, and chrome rear view mirrors. Rust has started to show on the driver side rear wheel well and the rear bumper is pushed in at one end.* see additional photo's The wheels are steel with chrome center caps and trim rings.
