Description

You probably were just attracted to this 1961 Chevrolet Impala because you though it looked cool and was priced right. Little did you know that this single-year coupe that has all the right upgrades such as A/C, four-wheel disc brakes, and serious 496 big block power. Yep, it's that awesome. You already know why the 1961 Impala is such a cool ride. It was the only year of this iconic third generation where the coupe included the highly stylized bubble top design. That skinny c-pillar and wraparound rear window is truly spectacular. And now take a look at it in this tasteful custom that is restored with better precision gaps than even the Los Angles factory could have made. Next comes a modern shade of White Diamond borrowed from new Cadillacs that utilizes a modern clearcoat to really impress as the sunshine hits the body. But more than just paint, this coupe makes a striking impression with its brightwork. Up front the wrap around bumper and grille shine even brighter thanks to a proper investment. On the side, not only does the full-length sweeping trim remain unbroken, but it also gives a nice hint at the interior color. In the rear is one of the most intricate forms ever put to sheetmetal. The dipping "V" with the three tail lamps on each side is something so daring you could only get it in '61. The final step to making this a truly distinguished coupe is taking the iconic elements like the gun sight fender ornaments and combining them with custom pieces like the Boyd Coddington alloy wheels.Inside is a custom setup that nicely blends the vintage and new worlds. The turquoise-like green in the exterior side spear nicely matches the dash. Plus, this same hue is used for the cloth seats and matching custom door panels. You have the option of carrying up to five family and friends in this full-sized coupe, or you can leave the cup holder center console in place for more individualized luxury. No matter how many people you have in this Impala, they will remain comfortable thanks to features like the ice-cold R134a air conditioning, and an AM/FM/CD stereo w/CD changer in the custom carpeted trunk. But the real treats of this coupe are reserved just for the driver. You get the original stylized two-spoke steering wheel, which gives you a clear view of all the auxiliary gauges, including the large tach. Those readouts and the B&M shifter combine to let you know there's something special under the hood before you even twist the key.Filling the engine bay is some serious big block power. The top motor in 1961 was the mighty 409, but this car does it even better. It started with a large 454 cubic-inch V8 and had it bored to a monster 496ci total. It looks fantastic in the gleaming white engine bay thanks to a whole host of polished components such as the air grabber, valve covers, and Zoop pulley system. And beyond the flash are also some great go-fast upgrades such as a performance HEI distributor, Edelbrock Performer intake, and Holley four-barrel carburetor. But more than just big power, the motor has reliable components such as an electric fuel pump and Griffin aluminum radiator w/electric fan. So the big V8 can fire up easily and even stay cool while you're in traffic with the A/C running. If this sounds like a comfortable classic, you're right. So while the rumbling dual exhaust says big power, the TH400 three-speed automatic transmission says comfortable cruiser. Plus, this Impala has great anytime features such as four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, modern performance tires, and a Hotchkis sports rear suspension with air shocks.Complete with build receipts, owner's manual, and restoration photos, you're probably already imaging the places you can go in this comfortable and complete build. So hurry and give us a call before the best Impala you'll ever see goes to someone else!
