1955 was the "Make or Break" year for Corvette. When it was first introduced in '53, the car became an instant sensation, even though only 300 units were built. Expectations were high for '54 and over 3,600 cars were built. However, the high price and low performance left the press and buying public relatively unimpressed. And as a result, 1100 units remained unsold going into the '55 model year. The big brass at GM were about ready to kill the Corvette unless some drastic measures were taken to insure higher sales. That drastic measure was more power in the form of the first small block OHV V-8 from Chevrolet; the 283ci w/195hp. It was what Corvette wanted and sorely needed! And although sales were only 700 units in '55, the V-8 changed the cars fortunes for the better, to say the least! The rest is history . . .

This stunning 34k mile example is 1 of just 120 Harvest Gold with Woodland Green interior '55's built. It had been in the same family since '58 until a few years ago and has been sympathetically and very correctly frame off restored to a very high standard using many original parts in the process! Meaning, the car is restored to what it would have looked like when delivered new in '55 rather than over-restored like many cars are today. Shortly after the restoration was completed in 2012, the car was shown at an N.C.R.S. event in AZ. where it was awarded a Top Flight Certificate. The car is in excellent condition throughout and looks absolutely beautiful in this rare, one year only color combination. The excellence of the restoration also extends to the mechanicals, as well as the cosmetics. It runs and drives just as a '55 should. It's comes with the side curtains, a binder full of restoration info and receipts, Top Flight Cert, Ribbon and judging sheets. This is one of the nicest '55's we've ever seen!
