If ever there was a car that defined the phrase "Muscle Car" to a "T", it would be the '70 Chevelle SS454! The horsepower wars reached their zenith in 1970. It was a last hurrah before everything started its swift downward spiral a couple years later. But before it all came crashing down, there were a few bright and shining moments left to be had. And one of the brightest and shiniest was the introduction of RPO LS6 to the Chevelle engine option sheet. Available for only one year in the Chevelle, the LS6 engine was rated at 450hp. It's has been suggested that the LS6 was substantially underrated from the factory, which was somewhat common practice by the Big Three, and that the engine actually produced well over 500 horsepower as delivered from the factory!! These very rare monsters were about race-ready right out of the box! And race they did!

We are presenting one of the nicest and most correct LS6's on the market! The car underwent an extensive 2 1/2 year nut and bolt rotisserie restoration. The whole event was photographed and documented. The car has three build sheets, one of which is still in the car. The #'s matching engine has been completely gone through, as has the M22 4-spd transmission and posi-traction rear end. The body was completely stripped to bare steel and refinished with all PPG products. All of the emblems and wheel opening moldings are NOS. The rest of the moldings have been refinished and polished. The bumpers and door handles are original and have been re-chromed. Of course, looks are important. But, performance is the real reason you plunked down your hard earned cash on one of these beasts! And the LS6 doesn't disappoint. It starts up with the appropriate growl, idles with a pronounced lope and will slam you back in the seat when the go pedal is compressed. The attention to detail is as stellar as it's performance and it would make the perfect cornerstone to any muscle car collection!
