Here's a challenge: Name one generation of Chevrolet trucks that can't be transformed into crowd-pleasing head turners with little more than common bolt-on hardware. The answer? There isn't one. From Task Force beauties to venerable S-10s, Chevrolet has spent the last hundred years consistently delivering universally appealing fodder for purists and hot rodders alike. This clean 3100 is a great example of a solid slice of Americana that's benefitted from plenty of cool upgrades. The recipient of a frame-off restoration that's logged just under 1,200 miles, the truck features vivid aesthetics, an air conditioned cockpit, a modern drivetrain and a proven GM small block that's guaranteed to haul plenty of, well, whatever you need to haul. Ready for a pickup you'll be proud to show off? Take a close look at this awesome Chevy!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Fully sorted and ready to roll, this super cool classic recently received a roof-to-rocker makeover that's set off by a smooth coat of Metallic Blue 2-stage. Under that high-quality pigment, an incredibly straight fuselage hangs solid panels that are supplemented with a bit of fresh sheetmetal. That massaged profile features better-than-factory alignment that's seated in even planes and tight gaps. And that carefully finished body presents very well, supplementing timeless blue collar aesthetics with serious street rod swagger.

Naturally, the truck's high-dollar rebuild included a roster of fresh bolt-ons. At the front of its body, a familiar chrome grille hangs clear parking lamps between a polished bumper, halogen headlights and a Chevrolet-branded hood. Behind that bonnet, a split windshield leads a tinted, 3-window greenhouse that's traced in two polished wipers and two polished mirrors. Beneath those mirrors, painted running boards frame chrome door handles. And behind those handles, a massaged bed centers fresh planks and a polished fuel filler between a chainless gate, LED lights, a custom pan and a second polished bumper.

ENGINE

In the name of performance and reliability, it's common practice for somewhat traditional street rods to employ souped-up versions of proven powertrains. With that in mind, this Chevy's restorer sourced a modern GM small block that twists big horsepower in to impressive torque! At the top of that sorted mill, a polished air cleaner fronts a polished throttle body, which fronts a polished intake manifold. At the base of that intake, polished fuel rails utilize a liquid-filled Street & Performance pressure gauge to regulate a steady stream of fossils. Those fossils combust in GM Performance Parts Vortec heads, which prop a polished MQQN Equipment breather opposite a polished oil cap. Beneath that cap, long-tube headers snake around thick MSD plug wires, which snap onto a traditional, points-style distributor. Charge is provided by a polished Billet Specialties Tru Trac accessory drive, which spins an Edelbrock water pump between a polished compressor, a polished alternator and modern power steering. And cooling comes courtesy of a tall aluminum radiator that's complete with a polished cap and large electric puller fan. Aesthetically, the body-matched engine compartment highlights a roster of great accessories, like braided hoses, billet hose looms, trick dipsticks and polished fluid reservoirs. And the net result is a buttery smooth, muscle-bound V8 that, through its distinctive rumble, foretells the truck's true hot rod nature.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

A mere 1,194 miles removed from the restoration shop, the bottom of this 3100 is every bit as nice as one might expect. That said, it's very clear the truck was built to be driven, as proven components and durable finishes create a chassis that's virtually unfazed by bouts of inclement weather. The spry 350 sends power to a dressed 700R4 4-speed, which spins a 9-inch Currie axle that's finished with a polished center section. That tough drivetrain pushes a full No Limit Engineering chassis, which mixes tubular, flame-themed control arms with adjustable, QA-1 coil-overs. Tracking is provided by power rack-and-pinion steering. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to polished, power-assisted calipers, which squeeze drilled and slotted rotors. Undercoated floors lead widened wheel tubs. At the center of those floors, Mandrel-bent exhaust pipes make excellent use of an H-shaped crossover and Flowmaster dual-chamber mufflers. At the corners of the chassis, stainless-trimmed steelies twist 205/65R15 Firestone Firehawk Indies in front of 255/70R15 Firestone Firehawk Indies. And everything, from the truck's polished starter to its fabricated fuel tank, is ready to pound the pavement!

INTERIOR

When you pop this pickup's doors, you'll find a comfortable leather cockpit that's simple yet stylish. Top dead center, a painted and stainless-trimmed dash hangs simple Classic Instruments telemetry above controls for cool air conditioning and a cool MQQN Equipment tach. The passengers park on a broad bench seat, which features a large, color-keyed armrest. Under that seat, tweed carpet floats piped floor mats beneath an Alpine CD player, an Alpine CD changer, a polished spoon accelerator and a stainless-trimmed brake pedal. At the sides of that flooring, ornate door panels hang small armrests and traditional handles beneath polished window frames. Above those frames, a billet mirror leads a tweed headliner. And in front of the driver, a polished, "CHEVROLET" branded steering wheel spins a half-wrapped rim around tilting column.
