Description

1969 Yenko Camaro Background:

Don Yenko was a Chevrolet dealer in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, he was a man dedicated to performance. A Chevy racer at the time he earned 4 SCCA national titles. He began his venture into specially-modified Chevrolets to bear his name in 1965 with the formation of Yenko Sports Cars. This stunning car is a tribute to the man who made big block Camaros famous to this day.

Dubbed COPO 9561, the factory conversion as specified by Yenko included the cowl-induction hood, curved-neck 4-core radiator and heavy-duty high-performance suspension. Another package, the COPO 9737 Sports Car Conversion Package, added mandatory power disc brakes, a 13/16-inch front sway bar, BE-code special heavy-duty 4.10:1 Positraction rear end, 15x7-inch wheels and a 140 MPH speedometer.

CAR DETAILS:

This impeccable Yenko recreation is done in a stunning Rally Green with black stripes, black interior, and modeled after both COPO 9561 and 9737 packages. The car sports the distinguishing Yenko graphics and decals, front and rear spoilers, cowl-induction hood, and American Racing wheels that visually identify it as a Yenko Super Camaro. The drivetrain is showcased by the L72 427/425 HP big-block V-8 with GM high performance L88/L89 closed chamber aluminum heads (casting #3904302), Muncie M21 close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission mated to a 12-bolt 4.10:1 Positraction rear end with Strange axels, and CalTrack suspension upgrades and subframe connectors to handle the power, and power disc brakes upfront. The earthshaking potential of the COPO 9561/9737 package is further duplicated in the car’s straightforward black standard interior, where a floor-mounted Hurst shifter, a 140 MPH speedometer, below-dash gauge cluster and a simple AM radio join bucket seats bearing the famous Yenko headrest insignia. The list goes on and on with a Holley street avenger carburetor, Crane roller rockers, MSD ignition, ceramic coated Hooker headers with X pipe and three inch dual exhaust all the way out the back, power steering, power front disc brakes, and period correct American Racing torque thrust wheels wrapped in BFG radial TA 215/65-15 front and 255/60-15 rear to enhance the exterior. This stunning tribute to the legendary Yenko is top notch, but at a fraction of the cost of the rare and highly awarded Yenko Super Camaro. A perfect car with the right combination of Private Collection quality, and drivability.Impeccable detail in this X-44 code Camaro, right down to the California black & yellow plate that says “427 YNKO”. Platecan go with the car if titled in CA. Clear CA Title in hand.
