Description
Up for auction is my 1966 Chevrolet Caprice Station Wagon. A real true survivor. I bought it from the original owners. He is in his 80's and owned a Lawn Mower Franchise and is now eliminating some his possessions. Been sitting in his building since 1981. Dirt very thick on it! Not a creme puff. Just a solid old Vintage Station Wagon worth restoring. This car is original and complete.
It has a 275 horsepower 327 engine with a 4 barrel carb and automatic power glide transmission. There are two humps on the head. So I'm assuming these are double hump heads. The car has add on air and power steering. AM Radio, and is a 6 passenger. No rear seat. The interior is all original. The worst of it is the driver side front seat. The rest is old and dirty. Carpet should be replaced, and honestly so should the seats. See pictures. This wagon has the simulated paper and plastic woody sides. As the pics show some of the paper is torn. A few dents nothing terrible.
The body is in good shape. The worst of the rust is on the lower front driver side fender. Throughout the car there are specs of rust from sitting. White shows the orange rust coloring. A good buff and compounding would help a lot. Or complete restoration. I know many people today love these wagons original and fix them up using the original finish. This car has patina! The under body of this car is outstanding, just old. The spare tire tub is not rusted. The frame of the car looks fine. Glass all good. Bumpers and trim good shape. I do not have the key for the doors. I put in a new ignition switch. Needs the round bezel to lock in in place in the dash opening. Also missing is the air breather and coil.
The power train: When he parked this car in 1981 it was running good and daily.Small town driving. He became a Massey Ferguson dealer and got a truck as his daily driver. This car sat and then the years past the battery went dead and basically forgotten. The dirt settled on it, the garage was cold in winter and hot in summer. 35 Seasons ! Come 2016 we pulled it out. Towed it to my place. Tried to turn it over and it wouldn't. Put in a good battery and it turned..a bit...then wouldn't turn over... What I believe is happening is that the cylinder walls are rusty and the pistons just wont move freely. I was told to dump some diesel fuel in the cylinders..but I don't have the time. So it will need engine work. Transmission?... Well just plan on going through them both.. Along with the brake system. This car is solid and worth doing.
If I were to keep it, I would get it running and clean up or replace the interior. Buff and polish the paint. Install some 18's on the rear and 16's on the front and cruise it with its original patina. These seem to be the craze today.
To sum it up this is a real solid car needing restoration. Once it's running and driving the sky's the limit. But the limits the sky! I hold a Nebraska Dealer license. Only to fund my hobby and do it legally, Superior Auto 4521 South 88th In Omaha. I'm more into Mopars, but I've known this car for years and had to help him out.
I have the original protect o plate and a 1975 Nebraska Title. In 1975 his accountant told him to register the car in his business name. He and his wife bought it new in Ashland Nebraska. His father was the local Chevy dealer.

I've had questions in regards to the Firewall tag. The photo is blurry. I apologize for that. Ebay wont let me delete or add anymore pictures with bids on the car. The tag codes it to "Ermine' white. 6 passenger, red interior from what I found on Google..... So if there is an area of interest to you call me and I will text you a photo. Thanks! I'm in Omaha Ne. Car is in my secured headed building. I'm in an industrial area and there is ample room to load the car once you buy it. I'm about 1 mile off Interstate 80.
