This isan original built, sold, and lived its life California truck. This beautiful survivor bears its original paint and is 99% rust free. Which means all 100% GM factory sheet metal in excellent condition. It also still obtains the original wood floor in the bed which is all there and shows well. This was a one owner truck up until last year and had been of the road since 1989 garaged. This is a RARE Longhorn edition which is one of only 1,479 C30 longhorns built for the 1971 year model. This is a true time capsule that will only continue to go up in value.
This truck has been brought back to life with a Complete Overhaul on the 350 engine. The engine block was factory standard bore which was bored .030 over, the crank shaft was cut .010 on the rod and main journals.The heads were machined and reassembled withall new valves and springs.2.02 intake and 1.64 exhaust valves were usedas shown in the pictures. There was not any cheap parts used in the assembly of the engine and it was built by a technician of 30 years experience. Hypereutectic Speed Pro pistons where used in this build. Cleveite rod, main, and cam bearings were used. All new Melling camshaft, lifters, pushrods, rockers, and oil pump were installed. New Cloyes timingchain set was installed.All New ARP head bolts were used.The engine was assembled using FEL- PRO gaskets.Newperformance high torque starter was installed. New water pump, new fuel pump, new ARP flex plate and bolts, Edelbrock Intake manifold was used along with an Edelbrock carburetor and air cleaner assembly. MSD pro billet distributor and MSD wires were install all new along with double platinum copper core spark plugs. All new headers and complete dual exhaust system was installed.A brand new four core radiator was installed along with all new support mounts.fan shroud, fan, fan drive, belts and hoses.
There was also no expense spared when it came to overhauling the TH400 automatic transmission. It was completely disassembled, cleaned and professionally assembled using all new bushings, bearings, clutches, and seals. A B&M overhaul kit was used which has Raybestos heavy duty clutch discs. A brand new B&M torque convertor was installed along with new vacuum modulator. The Intermediate, sprag one way clutch was updated with a heavy duty ( inside the transmission). Brand new transmission cooler lines have been installed.
The power steering system was completely overhauledwith rebuilt and new components which included the steering gear box. The front end parts where all inspected and parts replaced where needed. The brake system was completely overhauled with new brake booster, master cylinder,proportioning valve, and all new brake hoses. New wheel bearings, seals, pads, calipers, wheel cylinders, and hardware was used. Brand new wheels where used from Wheel Vintiques. Brand new BFGoodrich tires where installed. Front and rear new shocks along with the drive shaft being rebalanced ( just for peace of mind) and all new Spicer U- joints and carrier bearing. The differential was removed cleaned and inspected and new yoke seal installed and wheel seals. The complete front clip was remove during this restore and was cleaned and detailed and reinstall with new hardware.
Every component under the hood includingthe inner fenders was sanded down ormedia blasted that was factory black was then repainted in black epoxy.
This is a factory air condition truck which has been updated with a Vintage Air heating and cooling system.
All new front windshield with new weather stripping installed. All new weather stripping installed on the door jambs. All new weather striping installed on the door windows and wing windows.
The bench seat was updated with foam and new Hounds tooth upholstery with allsliders working in excellent condition. all new soundand heat deadener was installedinterior of the fire wall and floor before the new carpet was installed.New steering wheel and dash pad was install.All the gauges/instruments and wiring was fully cleaned, detailed, and or restored to bring it back to life in original working order for many more years to come.
This truck has less than150 miles on everything that has just been listed. The engine was properly broke in and the oil changed. I would not hesitate to drive this truck across the country tomorrow for everything which was listed has all been done by a professional technician of thirty years using high quality parts and components paying very high attention to detail. If this truck where to have a complete paint job it could then be considered a complete overhaul but Why not drive around in an original paint rust free truck with cool patinawith character and a story to tell. The original paint on this truck shows well and gives off that classic look and turns heads everywhere. So I will say it has an overhaul of all the matters to last another 46 years.
I know I am probably missing something so ask all questions before bidding and bid with confidence. The truck drives and handles as is should. It drives straight and tracks straight when you let go of the wheel at 75 mile per hour.It does not pull and brakes very well. It also runsright 180 degreesas it should with a completely new cooling system.This truck is sold as is where is with no warranty given or implied in any way shape or form.
