Description

This 1955 Chevy has been in my family its entire life. My uncle Jimmy bought this car new from Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater Fl. As the story goes, Mrs. Dimmitt drove it for 65 miles and decided she wanted a convertible instead. My uncle then purchased it and drove it until 1976 and then gave it to me before he died in 1978. It had 125,000 miles on it when I got it.

In 1990 I did a complete frame off restoration. The car has been driven only 3300 miles since then. At the time of restoration I installed factory power steering and brakes that I removed from another 55 Chevy I parted out. Both work perfectly. The original 265 v8 2 barrel engine has been completely rebuilt by a professional machine shop. I replaced the old leaking cast iron Powerglide trans with a 200-4R four speed automatic that came out of a 1987 Monte Carlo with only 12k miles on it. Every bearing, seal and gasket was replaced in the rear end. All suspension parts were replaced, ball joints, shocks, tie rods as well as coil springs and leaf springs. All wiring has been replaced from bumper to bumper. Most recently replaced the entire exhaust system with an aluminized one. The paint is still very nice but does have a few scratches. The entire interior was replaced alone with new Daytona weave carpet. The aftermarket AC blows cold and uses Rr134A Freon. Car runs and drives perfectly and everything works except the clock.

This is a very nice older restoration and turns heads wherever it goes. It has been stored in an air-conditioned garage for the last 41 years.
