Description

The '60 Corvette is arguably one of the most beautiful cars ever made. However, driving one is a different story. I did not like the over sized steering wheel, so I replaced it with an aftermarket one that is 2 inches shorter in diameter, although it looks just like the stock wheel. I replaced the skinny original tires with wide radials, P215/70 R15 on front and P235/70 R15 on rear. These two replacements made turning at slow speeds very difficult, so power steering was a must. The car originally had drum brakes, so I replaced the front with power disc brakes. The car really needed these because the professionally built 383 Stroker runs really well, especially with the two 4 barrel intake by Edlebrock, and the two Carter carbs. Engine is dressed out with 100 amp chrome alternator and Billet Specialties polished valve covers and air and oil breathers. Has a Muncie 4 speed trans, Rams horn exhaust manifolds that have been Jet-Hot coated. Has stainless steel exhaust, ss Flowmaster (not the really loud ones) and Griffin aluminum radiator. Has independent front suspension with true coil-overs and power steering. Wheels are 15 x 7 Mehelich polished aluminum. Rear springs and shocks have been replaced. All stainless and chrome has been replaced, re-chromed, or polished. Car had a complete body-off restoration, finished in about 2002. If it were a newer one, the price would be $80,000. The original gauges were sent to Corvette Specialties of Maryland for a perfect restoration. All wiring was replaced with Ron Francis wiring kit. All glass, rubber, etc. was replaced. Interior is done in Ultra-Leather, matching exterior of car. Radio has been replaced with Pioneer cd/am/fm stereo. Although it has won many trophies, best of show, etc., I consider it to be a "driver", because you can drive it anywhere. It has always been in a locked garage, with a Wolf car cover around it. I hate to let it go, but it's time to let someone else enjoy the car. You may contact me at 903-244-6183 or vettemansteven@aol.com. Ebay also has my old email as vetmansteve@aol.com.
