1966 Chevrolet El Camino Big Block
Description
This was a car I found on Craigslist. I pulled it out of a shed in Mustang Oklahoma back in December 2014 because I wanted to put together a big block car. It was originally a base car with a six cylinder and still has the 230 fender badges. The original color was white and sometime in the late 70s early 80s someone got after it with a couple of rattle cans and painted it dark blue. The paint has a cool patina to it which just made me like the car even more.I wanted a car that was fun to drive and I did not want to worry about rock chips and all the drama that goes with overly restored cars. This car turned out to be better than I thought it would be. It is fun to driver and performs very well and can be heard from a mile away.
- Upgraded from drum to 4 wheel power disc brakes with a functioning parking brake It was important to be able to affirmatively stop this car with the power it has.
- Fresh 454 bored 30 over that came out of a 1972 Chevelle SS
- Serpentine belt system off of a 1993 454 which made it easy to mount all accessaries. Uses late model high output alternator, late model power steering pump and late model air conditioning compressor
- Aluminum radiator
- Electric cooling fan - always runs at 180 degrees in town or on the highway
- Doug Thorley headers
- New exhaust - straight pipes only so it is loud If you want it to be quiet it is easy to just add mufflers.
- TH 400 rebuilt November 2016
- Lokar Shifter
- Painless Performance wiring harness
- Old Air Products heat and air
- New reproduction interior
- All new door seals, weatherstrip and window channel
- Dynamat on the floors, roof, interior firewall and on the back of the cab
- Power steering
- New front suspension including ball joints, a arm bushings, coil springs
- Fresh alignment
- New shocks Air shocks on the rear like original
- Correct rally wheels for big block Chevelle/El Camino
- New tires
- Original radio will go with the car
- Floor pans were replaced with correct stamped repair panels
- Bottom of the front fenders just behind the front wheel on both sides was replaced with correct stamped repair panels
- Rear quarter panel repair on the driver side was custom fabricated due to discontinuation of replacement panels.
- The pictures show an optima battery which will not go with the car.
- Rear bumper on the car is new
- I have a new front bumper (not installed) that I can sell with the car for an additional $100
- new fuel sending unit but improperly calibrated so empty is empty and 1/4 tank is full
- I drive this car every chance I get. It is fun, it is loud and it is fast. With all the upgrades and new front suspension it drives straight and nice. This car could easily be pulled back apart, cleaned and painted to make it a super nice car. I prefer the rat rod look and attitude so I drive it just like this.
- The rear-end is original and not a posi-trac.
I encourage you to ask questions by email or if you want to call me we can arrange that, ask for more pictures, come see the car or send a qualified person to see it for you. Once you have a winning bid I expect you to complete the sale, not come here and nit pick a 50 year old car. If you do you might not be glad that you did.
I am easy to deal with except when it comes to tire kickers.
The reserve is modest and reasonable but it is a secret and a grown-ass man should not need to ask.
I do not need the money, I just have the attention span of a gnat and I am ready to mess with something else.
