Description

1947/1948 Chevy/Chevrolet loadmaster - NO RESERVE

I am offering, at NO RESERVE, a great old 1947 Chevy truck. This is the loadmaster version, and as you can see in the pictures is in overall good, original condition. This truck was still in use on a local farm up until the last few years, and had been stored inside most of its life, up until then.

This truck has a lot going for it. It is nearly 100% rust free, there is one dime size spot on left cab corner, and although that's all I have seen, there could be another similar spot somewhere else, but basically, overall NO RUST. It is also very complete, with all important components on the truck. It is also very original. The one part that is not original, and is a great upgrade, is the engine. The original 216 has been replaced with a 235. This looks nearly identical to the 216, but with more power, and also it is a full pressure lube system, which makes it much more durable. The 30# oil pressure gauge stays maxed out when the engine is running. It has also been converted to 12 volt, so it cranks and starts much easier.

The truck does have a hydraulic dump bed, which functions flawlessly, and also had auxiliary hydraulics at the rear of the bed to auger seed into a planter. As I said, this truck was in use until recently.

This is and has been a farm truck its whole life, so while it has been nicely cared for, it also had its share of dings, bumps and bruises. Nothing major, but they are there. I have driven this truck around town some, and two things in particular will need some attention - first - the exhaust manifold has a leaky gasket, and second - either the starter or flywheel has a bad spot or it because it sometimes grinds a time or two before it cranks over to start. The nice thing is that these engines are so basic to work on, and the truck runs and drives well other than this.

I have sold quite a few of these old trucks, and there is a basic list of things that you should expect. Basic, standard, old vehicle stuff. Most all of them are the same. Brakes are spongy and need bled and inspected, I'm sure carb could use cleaning/adjustment - although it runs fine. Belts, hoses, points, plugs, all of these are probably many years, if not decades old, but its all stuff you can do in your driveway on a weekend or two, great father son project.

Overall, this is a great project that is already running and driving. It is bigger truck but will haul on a 18ft trailer, that's what I used. I don't mind the truck sitting here a while as long as it is paid for in a timely manner, and above all else - please ask any questions prior to biddings. I want to be sure you know exactly what you are getting. I have 100% positive feedback and want to keep it that way. My name is Cort 620-786-5172 - call or text. Thank you and good luck.
