No matter what or why you collect, there's no denying the blue chip appeal of mid-year Corvettes. And while classic Corvette culture may have started with small block offerings, it's the brand's big block cars that have ALWAYS commanded buyers' utmost respect. At the top of the pyramid is Chevrolet's coveted, 435 horsepower Tri-power Sting Ray. And this 427/435 roadster, Top Flight accredited and Bloomington Gold certified, is a highly exclusive rarity that wraps a killer color combination in a first class restoration. Whether you're in the market for one of the coolest Corvettes ever made, or just an outstanding muscle car, here's a Main Street centerpiece that can fulfill your lifelong dreams!

BODYWORK/TRIM

The beneficiary of a recent, frame-on restoration, this striking C2 is a decidedly clean classic. During its in-depth rebuild, the car's solid fiberglass was thoroughly massaged to correct most of the typical waves and ripples that came standard from GM's St. Louis manufacturing facility. With those cosmetic semantics complete, a finishing phase took the form of aggressive block sanding. And finally, everything was layered in correct Rally Red 2-stage, accented with a sinister Stinger Stripe and buffed to an impressive, wet-look shine.

With this roadster, the idea was to create a super nice cruiser that can be enjoyed without worry. Whether that means an excellent, original piece was refinished to like-new condition, or fresh reproduction items were installed, the car's caretakers certainly ensured its appearance is both accurate and impressive. At the front of this old school street queen, bullet-style marker lights, show worthy bumpers and a red, white and black cross-flag emblem cage a stainless egg crate grille. Behind that grille, brazen "427" emblems adorn a 1967-exclusive Stinger Hood. At the sides of that hood, simple heat extractors ride between traditional door handles, a classy bowtie mirror and black, stainless-trimmed rocker panels. Opposite those rockers, mirrored frames complement a fresh roof and lightly tinted glass. And behind that glass, familiar Corvette tail lamps illuminate a chrome-trimmed fuel filler and correct Sting Ray emblem above a chrome-trimmed tag bracket, polished exhaust tips and two more show worthy bumpers.

ENGINE

It's hard not to notice a second generation Corvette, especially in a spectacular coat of Rally Red paint. And this drop-top's exclusive 435 horsepower, 427 cubic inch Tri-power V8 will ensure the car is both seen AND heard! At the top of the Chevy Orange block, a trio of Holley carburetors rides between a chrome, correctly-decaled air cleaner and bright, stainless fluid lines. Below those carburetors, a familiar Winters intake funnels a perfect air/fuel mixture in to tough, cast iron heads, which wear traditional steel valve covers. When the juice hits the cylinders, reliable, chrome-capped ignition sparks fresh, stainless-sleeved wires while a stock cam and rotating assembly push spent gases through restored exhaust manifolds. Cooling for that fire is provided by a beefy radiator, which hangs in front of pliable GM hoses and reproduction tower clamps. Aesthetically, this Chevy's tidy engine compartment is exceptionally well done, framing a modern alternator, fresh brake booster and tagged Delco battery in bright decals and clean, Satin Black fenders. And the 435 horsepower mill fronts a correct 3904351 casting number and September (J) 19th (19), 1966 (6) casting date with a correct 427/4-speed (JE) suffix stamp and a matching partial VIN.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Not surprisingly, the bottom of this pavement-pounding Vette is solid, clean and ready to roll. Behind the awesome big block, a familiar Muncie 4-speed sports a correct 3885010 casting number, a 1967 (7) Muncie (P) assembled on November (S) 22nd (22), 1966 build stamp and a matching partial VIN. That tough transmission twists a stout rear end that's fitted with highway-friendly gears. Turns come courtesy of a power-assisted steering rack. Power 4-wheel disc brakes provide solid, confident stops. Impressive, true-dual exhaust funnels spent gases through baritone turbo mufflers. Solid, unvarnished floors perfectly complement a straight, Satin Black chassis. And all that reliable hardware rolls on conservative Rally wheels that spin 7.75-15 Goodyear Power Cushion redlines around stainless trim rings and polished center caps.

INTERIOR

Open this C2's tossable doors and you'll find a correct Black interior that appears to have been completely replaced during the car's frame-on rebirth. Seating comes courtesy of firm vinyl thrones that are anchored between fresh belts, bright stainless trim and a small console that's centered on a fully functional shifter. From the driver's perch, a traditional clock and Delco AM/FM radio ride between rebuilt gauges and an aluminum-trimmed glove box. Below that dash, like-new carpet lays between fresh stainless sills. Above those sills, chrome-trimmed door panels hang monochromatic accents between small armrests and traditional handles. In front of the driver, a satin-spoke steering wheel spins around a brilliant cross-flag emblem. And behind the passengers, a fully carpeted storage compartment boasts enough room for a picnic basket and some detailing supplies.
