Description
1969 Chevelle SS 396 4 Speed. I know, there are a lot of Chevelle's on ebay that state this with no proof. Lucky for this one it was built in Canada and they put all the options on the trim tag so there is no disputing it. Car originally came with the 396-325hp engine, M20 4 speed, A51 bucket seats, C50 rear window defogger and the outer SS 396 appearance package. Car has been in Texas most of it's life but does have some rust. Car was in the process of being turned into a race car when the person lost interest(thank God).
Exterior: Looks to have all it's original panels. Quarters are original and have the numbers stamped into the rear trunk area. They have some issues but are salvageable. A little rust at the bottoms and the passengers has a dent that can be hammer and dolleyed out. Doors open and shut good. Fenders are good but need some work at the bottoms. Hood, roof and trunklid are good and just need some small dents pounded out. Floors and trunk have rust but are salvageable. Trunk and rear seatback were cut out for some kind of something for racing. Has a piece of angle iron with the drivers shock attached to it. Comes with a whole new trunk to fix this. Luckily, they stopped with the drivers side and didn't mess with anything else.
Interior: Looks all original. Seat are in good condition, door panels are worn, dash looks fantastic. Car was an original 4 speed and the tunnel hump is untouched and intact. Has an automatic shifter that is on 2 blocks of wood and is just there. I would think anyone who got this car would put a 4 speed back in it anyway. All three pedals are still present.
Drivetrain: Not sure about any originally so assume it's not. Has a 68-69 396(3935440). This baby hauls butt. It idles nicely and will put you back in your seat, so yes it runs drives and stops. Tranny is an automatic and the rear end looks like the original 12 bolt. Car has a push button starter and reverse lock out. The reverse lock out is riveted to the shifter. If the new owner wants, I will cut it off before transport so it has reverse, if not, I'll leave it like it is. New battery, fuel pump and Edelbrock carb and intake.
All in all a great car to restore. You won't be pouring money into a car you can never prove. This one was born an SS and will always be one. All you know it alls just deal with it.
Thanks for looking,
