1966 Imperial Le Baron PLUS SECOND restorable, RUNNING, DUAL AC 1966 LeBaron for parts, or.....
The Lilac car is One of only 1875 made and likely the only one made in this color/interior combo.
This is a California Car retaining its original California Black plates. NO RUST NOW OR EVER. It is wearing a professional re-spray of its ORIGINAL COLOR, called Lilac Poly. It is also wearing an accurate and professionally done replacement of its original Broadcloth Cloth interior. Of the 1875 1966 Imperial LeBarons made in 1966 I am given to understand (by a very knowledgeable Imperial enthusiast) that it may be the only one that left the factory in this color with this interior, so if 1875 units made is not rare enough for you, 1 of 1 should satisfy your need for exclusivity.
Headliner is original and not torn.
All glass is good
Chrome is good except for some VERY light pits and very small dings on rear bumper. (you have to look closely)
I bought this car about 4 years ago and did all the appropriate mechanical maintenance upgrades including:
Water Pump
Fuel Pump
Carburetor
Belts
Hoses
Fan Clutch
Radiator
Thermostat
Upper/Lower control Arm bushings
Upper/Lower ball joints
Tires
Brakes (including all hardware and hoses)
Master Cylinder
Rear Seat re-upholstery
Paint.
In short, I did everything required to make it a safe, reliable, beautiful car to tour in or to show.
The car starts instantly and runs flawlessly.
It does not smoke, shudder, wander. (It will leave some drips if it stays in one place overnight).
It does not burn oil.
Mechanical condition.
Saturday, June 25, 2017, I went on a 140 mile round trip in the California Desert in 100 degree+ heat at 75mph. No overheating, no pinging and I clocked 14.2 mpg at that speed. On that trip I passed several way newer cars that had pulled over due to overheating.
What Works:
All 6 power windows, both 6 way front seats (in all directions), AM/FM radio with REVERBERATOR (could be louder), Heater/Defroster, All lights (including the “Sentry Signal” and glove box), remote trunk release, all 4 power door locks, both rear reading lamps and all interior lamps including the radio dial and all instrument and control illumination lamps. Automatic brake release functions properly as does the foot-operated station changer for the radio. Transmission pointer works properly.
What does not work:
Air Conditioning not cold(needs a compressor) but the ac clutch works and the system (vacuum electric switch) operates properly meaning that air goes through the proper duct path and blower blows when Heat/Defrost/Fresh Cool/Max Cool is selected. Heater slide cable works properly and is not broken.
Auto Pilot-Had made a hard gas pedal and noisy unit operation so I disconnected both (but I have the linkage and the "Perfect Circle" unit is still mounted properly)
Windshield washer (reservoir missing)
Front Wind Lace worn in spots but nicely covered in vinyl by me.
NOTE: RUNNING AND COMPLETE 1966 IMPERIAL LE BARON PARTS CAR WITH DUAL AC AND MOSTLY GOOD BLACK LEATHER SEATS IS INCLUDED. IT ISNOT REGISTERED.
I enjoy driving and showing this car but advancing age and limitations in physical endurance that I can spend on maintenance mandate that I sell two of my three 1966 Imperials (the remaining one is a convertible and I am keeping that one).
