1963 Imperial Convertible, white with white top and red leather interior. 1 of 531 built. 413 V8 340 HP, Torqueflite trans, This is the 40th 1963 Imperial built and may be the first convertible built. Has the standard power steering/brakes/windows/seat, and optional Auto Pilot (cruise control).
This car needs full restoration. It's not a driver, it's not roadworthy, it needs basically everything. It is complete down to the original keys, jack, spare, and 5 hubcaps. There are 2 pieces of front seat trim missing but nothing else is missing, on the whole car. Some of these convertible specific parts are basically impossible to find and you don't want to have to search for them.
It was bought new in the Chicago area and it is rusty. The front floors need to be patched or replace (passenger front is worse), the floors under the front seat are good. Both rear seat floor pans need to be replaced. The worst area is under the rear seat bottom which is a common problem on convertibles. Easiest would be to replace that part as unit, from rocker to rocker. It is the same as a 4dr 60-63 I measured against another car. I have floorpan sections I will include but you are responsible for picking them up they will not fit in the car! I have most of the sheet metal you need. I do not have a trunk floor but I know someone who does. I have most of the interior floor sheet metal needed, if not all of it. Can send pics of what I have It needs the trunk floor replaced or at least the center section of the trunk floor. The lower quarters were repaired previously and need to be properly fixed (have sheet metal riveted in). Also needs to be patched on the outer rockers, beneath the quarter windows. Common problem on 2dr as there is no drainage there. Outer rockers to the rear wheel well are reproduced. The DR side is worse than the passenger side. The car was repainted in the 1970s.
I replaced the hood and trunk lid with straight, rust free ones. They are nice, no problems. Trunk has a nice trunk emblem and handle (wasn't installed yet in one of the pics). Hood opens and closes but needs to be adjusted. Doors are solid with no rust out. Car looks straight doesn't look like it was ever hit. Front end seems good I'm sure fenders will need a little work on the bottoms though
Original trunk and ignition key. The motor is free and turns over by the key. The car last lot drove about 10-12 years ago, last registered for road use in 1994. The carb is pretty dirty and should be rebuilt. If I get time i will mess with trying to get it to run. But I don't think it will run without the carb being rebuilt. I put on new battery cables and spark plugs, changed the oil. It sounds good (ie. turns over quickly) The starter was rebuilt, not sure when. Gas tank is good, has no dents and no rust on the outside. Previous owner replaced it. Trans fluid is bright redThe front seat is solid and has no rust issues. The dash pad is not bad, needs to be redyed. Door handles are unbroken. The rear seat bottom will need some work on the wire framing in the corners. The top assembly is nice. I never attempted to put it down. It has all it's factory paint and it has no rust on the header bow where these usually rust out. Rear view mirror and latch are good neither are broken. All glass is nice
Also including a set of rare Imperial wire wheels, these were optional on 55 & 56 Imperials but will fit the later year Imperials. Need to be restored. Plus an extra red steering wheel pad (much nicer than one on the car), a battery tray, and a few other parts plugs belts and hoses This is a rare car folks, these don't come up for sale very often. It is a big project but it is all there and it's priced to sell considering just the value of the parts.
NO PAYPAL ACCEPTED FOR DEPOSIT UNLESS I TALK TO YOU FIRST. CASH,CHECK,WIRE etc. Full payment in 7 days. Car needs to leave ASAP or I will charge $75 a month storage. If you want to pay that it can sit where it is for a while.
