History: The car was bought new in Portland Oregon by Mary M Thomas. Don Feller found the car for sale in the Oregonian and his friend in NE Portland bought the car in 1977. Much mechanical maintenance was done, such as overhaul of the semi-automatic transmission, differential, water pump and more. In 1978 Don Feller bought the car from his friend and did a high quality re-paint (1989) in the original color and had the front seat re-upholstered at 60k miles. The car now has 83k original documented miles. It comes with a large binder of documentation showing the cars history in great detail. All the driver permits from new are retained as well as the original trip permit. There many documents to list out (see photos). The car comes with service records from 1977 to present and is affectionately referred to as “Winnie the New” by Don. This is an extraordinary car and it is now time for the next person to take over the next chapter in its journey.

Engine & Transmission:This “Spitfire” engine is a solid example that runs excellent. The mechanics on this car are very well sorted. The semi-automatic fluid drive transmission was completely overhauled and the car shifts as new. The engine runs smooth and strong (see video). Maintenance includes: water pump, differential, valve job. The underside of this car is dry and has no rust (see photos). This is a great example of a 69 year old car that is ready to drive and enjoy.

Body: The body is in very good condition all panels are straight with excellent gaps. The car had a re-spray and at that time the top was painted “tobacco brown”. The rest of the car is called “desert sand”. All glass is in great shape. The paint has a few imperfections (over 30 years) and I took detailed photos to show the condition. The only corrosion is a small spot in the back above the rear bumper (see photo) the rest of the car is dry and rust free. The trunk area is very nice. The spare tire compartment is great. The chrome is super nice and well preserved. It has the rare “Bullseye” headlights. The car is equipped with Kelsey-Hays Chrysler wire wheels. The original wheels come with the car. It is a great cruiser.

Interior: The beautiful “Highlander” plaid interior was an extra-cost option in the late 40’s early 50’s and is in very nice condition. The front bench seat was re-done and is in new condition. The chrome handles are ornate and work perfectly. It has the leather padded dash as well as every available option in 1950. The original level of quality is still very apparent on this example. The door skins are very nice as well as the armrests. The headliner is in excellent shape. The carpet was replaced when painted. This cars interior is in great shape and is a big part of enjoying the driving experience.

Summary: This is asolid unmolested example of a classic with a great history from new. These tourers continue a tradition of handcrafted quality. This example is perfect for cruising during the week and taking to car shows on the weekend.
