I am proud to offer this desirable and attractive 1971 Citroen DS20 Confort line with Pallas spec interior finished in French blue over a mocha leather interior. This Canadian-specification car featuring luxurious Pallas interior trim, European (non-swiveling) headlights and the wonderful yet quirky Citromatic transmission.
This 3-owner car was lovingly cared for and boasts an ORIGINAL rock-solid floor pan and chassis that has never been altered (n.1 buying criteria for any discerning Citroen enthusiast). Never winter driven.
Nice cosmetics back the solid chassis. The car was originally delivered by the factory in Burgundy and has been repainted once (approximately 15 years ago) in French blue by previous owner. Although the age of the paint it still presents nicely with deep gloss and properly-aligned panels. A few minor cracks in the finish are found on close inspection (see pictures); however, they do little to detract from the impressive overall appearance. Brightwork consists of a mix of chrome and stainless pieces, appearing in excellent original condition (DS 21 gold badging was added at the time). Body panels are straight and properly aligned. Wheels feature correct off-white paint with full stainless-steel wheel covers. The correct Michelin X tires are almost new and have very few miles on them.
This car features a Pallas-specification interior, trimmed in mocha-colored leather on the seats and door panels. The seats and panels have never been restored and show nearly 50 years of patina with cracks and a few minor tears. While lovely in this original state they could be excellent candidates to a full restoration by a leather upholstery specialist. The carpets are nice, the headlining was replaced with a non-original fabric.
The hydraulics work superbly with no leaks, a full 30 second pump cycle tick over showing its great mechanical health, providing the legendary DS's superb ride quality. All mechanical components function as they should, with beautifully idling engine that consumes no oil, and properly shifting transmission and tight controls. Car has been annually serviced by a Citroen mechanic for all its life (now 81 years of age and still going strong!) and runs as it should. Currently has a very minor engine oil leak from a dried distributor gasket (easy fix).
Factory original controls and switches are in excellent condition, with only the washer fluid pump that has ceased to function this spring. Original Veglia clock still holding time.
The odometer is showing just over 34,000 km but has gone over once making the cars original mileage 134,000KM or about 82,000 miles.
Moving forces, a reluctant sale. Car was cherished.
Best of luck!
