Starting from the ground up, every component was completely disassembled and carefully... stripped with preservation in mind. The body was carefully restored using as much of the original sheet metal as possible and the structural wood work being replaced only as needed. Paint quality is superb and overall fit and finish is impressive, with chrome that was restored to a show-quality level as well. Inside the cockpit, black leather wraps the seat and door cards, and is contrasted by dark red piping with dramatic effect. Rear passengers will enjoy the same quality in the rumble seat area as well. The drivers dash features ornate trim work that surrounds the instrumentation, and the distinctive gear shift lever is the highlighted at the center. A matching black canvas top has been fitted with new wooden bows and restored metal components.The massive Lycoming inline eight-cylinder engine was fully rebuilt with a new camshaft, pistons, rings and bearings throughout. In addition, the crankshaft was delicately balanced and polished, and the head was planed and ported, resulting in an engine that is strong and exceptionally smooth. Freshly rebuilt cooling and charging systems both keep the engine in good standing as well. Concurrently, the transmission was carefully inspected and refurbished with the addition of a new clutch and pressure plate.Truly an incredible find, this L-29 Cabriolet is one of the most desirable examples of its era.
