Description

1936 Cord 810 Sedan Front Wheel Drive Consignment Sale Serial Number 1815S We’re selling this beautiful ‘36 Cord 810 on behalf of a gentleman in the suburbs of Chicago who has owned the car for the last decade. He had purchased the car locally from a relatively long-term owner of 20-some-odd years. As it sits now this is a dry, well-kept example that shows some cosmetic signs of age but overall is a solid, respectable driver that could be enjoyed as-is or brought to... the next level with a light restoration. Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up. There are a number of areas where paint is peeling, and one area on the passenger’s side where there is some discoloring. Body is straight with the exception of one dent, which is located on the passenger rocker, situated in line with the middle of the passenger front door. - Palm Beach Tan appears to be the original color. Nothing but bare metal underneath the areas where it has peeled. - Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Retractable headlights are wound from a handle on the dash. Lights and signals are all functional. Windows roll up and down nice and smoothly, as do the headlight covers. - All of the polished surfaces (Bumpers, mirrors, window frames, etc) are in great shape, with minimal oxidation. - Wheels are excellent. One hubcap has some minor oxidation, the others are all spotless. Car will come with a matching, full-sized spare as well. Goodyear whitewalls are in nice shape too, and while we aren’t positive as to when they were manufactured, there are no signs of dryness and wear is negligible. - Panel fitment is spot-on. Doors, hood, and trunk all open and close nice and smoothly. Interior: - Interior is undoubtedly the strong point of this car. Burgundy broadcloth is in excellent shape. No punctures, frayed areas, scuffs, or observable wear both in the front and rear. Carpet is much of the same, showing little to no age or wear. Headliner is tight and spotless. Door panels are clean and show no kicked-open markings or other damage. - Dash is absolutely gorgeous. Gauges are all functional and look fantastic. Glass is nice and clear, not cloudy or tired-looking. - Odometer reads 01610 and is functional. - Dual split windscreen does pop out with the turning of a knob on the dash, one on each side. - Carpeting is excellent throughout, with no discoloring, fraying, etc. Under the Hood / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. This car looks quite good underneath. The only spots of through corrosion are a couple little holes in the exhaust. These exhaust leaks do not make the car loud by any means, it’s just not totally dead silent. The car is running throughout the video, so be sure to give that a watch. - The car runs and drives nicely. The “Electric Hand” vacuum-powered shifter is so unique and so cool, it really gives this car a one-of-a-kind driving experience. The car fires right up, idles cool and steady, accelerates through the gears with impressive power for its age and no hesitation or stuttering, shifts smoothly, has good clutch feel, and tracks nice and straight. Brakes are OK at the moment, but we would recommend at least giving them a once-over before really making this a routine driver. Brake pedal is a bit soft and has feel closer to the floor, so it isn’t what we’d call confidence inspiring. - The identification tag on the car shows the original engine number as FB1004, though the current engine number is FB783. The current engine is correct, a 288ci V8, but would have come from a car a couple hundred units off on the production line.
