I bought this car from the previous owners after it sat in their backyard for years. They told me they bought it from the original owner when it was a year or 2 old. I cleaned it up and got it running then started having kids so I've only test driven it a couple miles.
Odometer shows 180,165 miles; title shows Exempt because of its age. When I purchased this car the speedometer cable and where it mounts to the speedometer was broken. P.O. said when it broke is when they parked it, so displayed mileage should be within a couple miles of actual. I fixed the speedometer mount myself and bought a cable which is longer than the original, but it's all i could find at the time. Speedometer now seems to work fine.
Paint is pretty nice but a bit dull. It sat under a pine tree in p.o's yard and had little globs of sap on it. I cleaned the sap off so there's shiny spots you can see in some pics; I'd think with a wax job it would be hardly noticeable.
Pin-striping is mostly intact and looks good. The door-bumper rubber is shrunken and should be replaced, but the mounting for the rubber is intact and in good condition. The plastic chrome trim around the back window & around the front windows is there but isn't very good.
Very little rust, the 4 close-up pics of rust are in front of- and -behind the back wheels & that seems to be it.
Interior: Look at pictures. Front seats are a bit rough. Back seats are pretty nice and vibrant colored still, though the tops of the backs are faded and a couple small tears. Carpet is a bit rough on the drivers side, passenger side is better and back carpet is pretty nice. Head liner is in very nice condition. Sun roof is in good condition and seals well. Has sun roof cover with storage bag also in great shape. Has both sun visors but the passenger side one needs re-mounting. Has 1 original floormat.
Some plastic is faded (center console and around shifter) and the louvers in the vents are gone. Rear-view mirror is sun-faded and crumbly but I have the glass and it's intact. Dash is really nice and barely faded, with the only one little crack.
Hatchback area: the plastic is cracked and crumbly from sun damage. The carpet pad is present but losing its fur. Underneath in the spare tire compartment is in great shape.
Engine seems to be complete with only the air-cleaner cover missing. The choke plate from the carb is missing from the pictures but i have it and the screws and will come with. Starts runs and drives but I'm sure at minimum it'll need a tune-up.
Tires hold air but should probably be replaced due to weather checking and being on there for too many years. Hub caps are there with 1 missing the red center emblem. Some rust pitting but overall pretty nice.
Comes with Haynes Owner Workshop Manual.
Awesome old Japanese car! Sporty style & great condition! So Cool finding one that hasn't rusted away, been driven into the ground or crushed for scrap!
