Description
Original 11/1970 Series One 240z for sale. Low Vin # HLS30-15148. It is a great base for a restoration vehicle. Original L24 engine. The color originally was 919 Sunshine Yellow but was repainted to be a dark metallic navy blue. My plan for the car was to fix it up and drive it as a summer car, but unfortunately my plans have changed and I sadly have to move on from this project due to other time commitments.
I've had this car garaged for the past six months while I got it into running condition. I purchased it from an old couple in northern Washington that had previously had it garaged since 2008, the tags on the license plates show that. I got it out of their garage and it fired up well enough. I've installed new hoses for the radiator as well as a new thermometer and housing. Firing it up takes a few cranks cold, but once its warm it starts up right away and stays on.
The next things on my list to do were go through the braking system, swap out the automatic transmission for a manual one, and then just general engine upkeep.
Condition wise I would put it at a 6.5/10 for it being a 70's car. Its rust issues are noticeable but not crippling. Mainly it has surface rust in most problem areas. The floor pans are in good condition but could be replaced if you are planning a complete tear down. The passenger floor pan has new sheet metal bolted onto the old floor which was done before I bought the car. The battery tray is intact and in good condition, just with surface rust. If you have any specific question about the condition please message me and I will provide as much description as I can.
While the car is in running condition its not in a long distance driving condition. The brakes on the car need to be gone through and flushed. They do work, I just don't trust them to stop in an emergency. The automatic transmission is in worn condition and struggles to shift occasionally. It does work however and can be worked on, I'm also confident that more time driving the car will loosen up the transmission. Tires seem to be in okay condition. Overall I would say its in good condition for how long it had been sitting, but needs even more love than I've already given it to be a daily driver. The car also has a sunroof, but due to tire deflation in storage the glass cracked and I have yet to get a replacement. Finding one shouldn't be hard, and if you would like help with that I would be glad to offer that. I wasn't sure if I wanted to replace the roof completely to restore it to its sunroof-less condition. Right now it simply has a cut out fiberglass board held in place by waterproof tape as a covering.
The interior is in nice condition and is a joy to be in. Please refer to the pictures to see condition. The original radio has been removed and I don't have a replacement. The gauges don't respond when the car is on except for the amp gauge. The back interior trim piece where the brake lights sit is missing revealing the yellow original color.
