1976 Datsun 280z 4 Speed No Reserve
Description
Vin: GHLS30-038189
Up for auction is a 1976 Datsun 280Z with a 4 speed manual transmission, 6 cylinder engine with clear title, no reserve. (Model GHL S30 STD 2+2 CPE 2 DR, Color 305 Light Blue, Engine # L28-083514). The car comes with Flow-Through Ventilation, Heater/Defroster with Variable Speed Fan, Variable Speed Windshield Wipers, Electric Windshield Washer, Courtesy Light, Padded SunVisors and Dash, Glove Box, Air Conditioning, Electronic Fuel Injection, Power Assist Disk Brakes, 4 wheel Independent Suspension, Reclining Vinyl Seats, Electric Rear Window Defroster, Rack & Pinion Steering, Full Instrumentation/Tachometer, Trip odometer & Clock, Low Fuel Warning Light & Fold Down Rear Seat. The car starts and runs but has a leaky brake cylinder which has to be replaced before driving. Prior to this just happening, the car would be driven around town on a weekly basis. The car passed all Pennsylvania inspections, was registered and driven in PA before moving to Florida, where it is currently registered and plated. The car has the original, window sticker when it was purchased new from a dealership in Ohio in the 1970's. The Datsun has air conditioning but doesn't blow cold. The car has 4 new tires (Cooper 195/70 r14), new hydraulic master clutch cylinder & clutch slave cylinder (bleed system was performed), new passenger floor pan, new ignition coil, starter, rotor, plugs and wires, oil sender, temperature sender, thermostat, radiator and hoses. Oil has been changed recently. All vacuum hoses are connected. The small maintenance light located under the hood works. The interior fan works. The manual crank windows work and the glass goes up and down fine. The doors close though the drivers door creaks when opening and closing. All the interior gauges light up and work. The directional lights, headlights, taillights, wipers work except the clock. A spare tire is located in the trunk, but it is not original. Surface rust is visible in the trunk, as shown from one of the photos, but there is no holes through the metal. The antenna has been broken off and has not been replaced. There is no stereo nor speakers. The vinyl on the seats are torn. There is surface rust on the bumpers. The undercarriage shows surface rust. The exhaust does not have any holes but shows it wear and needs to replaced. There is some rattling from the exhaust when upon startup but quiets down after a few minutes. Some brake work has been performed on the disks up front. When I purchased the car, the passenger floor pan was rusted so I had the floor pan professional replaced. The car has been repainted at some point. Due to the 5 digit odometer, the mileage is unknown. Currently it states 08600. (Certainly not the original miles. I just had to enter sound value in the mileage field above to make eBay happy.) The car does not have an interior carpet nor a carpet for the trunk. The Datsun needs a new center console. The heater does not seem to work. The corner trim is missing from windshield. Starting up the Datsun, it does blow a small amount of blue smoke for a second. I do not know of any engine work being done to car before owning it. What I know about the body work is, the previous owner had done some work on the rear fenders and had the car repainted (poorly, poorly done and not the correct color code). Rust is starting to show up especially on the drivers side fender near the hood, bubbles on the rear fender and some rust starting under some trim pieces. The seats have to be redone because of cracks as well as the dashboard. A brake light comes on, located on the dashboard, but I have not time to investigate if it is the emergency brake switch or another issue. The mirrors and bumpers show surface rust. The front and rear bumpers are missing the corner bumper pieces that wrap around the front and rear of the car. The current hubcaps are not stock. Both doors close fine, but the door locks need to be replaced and the outside passenger door handle needs to be adjusted or replaced. It currently does not open the door. However, the inside handle works fine, which opens the door. The exterior coating on the gas tank seems to be coming off as well as some of the coating on the inside of the wheel wells. The glove box is in a box along with extra parts: auto shop manuals, new starter, cold start valve, fuel filter, 2 new belts, hardware to bolt down spare tire, seat covers and some center console parts. The winning bidder is responsible for pickup and shipping of the vehicle. Right now, the brake cylinder, drivers side rear, is leaking. Therefore, the car has to be picked up with a trailer. Payment: Cash, cashier's check or money orders accepted. If you choose to pay with money orders, the money orders need time to clear with the banks, which just usually takes two or three business days. I was informed by my bank that money orders need time to process. Thank you for viewing and please feel to ask questions. Additional photos are also available.
