Clean Title 1972 Datsun 240z Being Sold At NO RESERVE. Bid to win.
I bought this car to tinker with. Why am I selling? I realized I simply don't have the time to give her the love she needs, and really want to focus on my own '73 240z.I am including a lot of extra new and used sheet metal with the car, which is listed below.Please read this descriptionthoroughly, and pay attention to the photos.
This '72 240z came from an old man near Denver who supposedly had the engine rebuilt in the late 90s before parking it in a barn in 2001, until I found it last year. I believed him that the engine was rebuilt, because the E88 head is clearly painted red. He said he stopped driving it to repair the rust, and never got there.
GOOD:
- Clean title- Freshly rebuilt round top SUs- The engine bay looks well cared for, with a rebuilt Bosch alternator, newer radiator hoses, smog hoses and equipment, refreshed tension rod bushings, refreshed brake booster hoses, and soft factory Nissan replacement heater hoses. Items I installed include a rebuilt OEM Nikki mechanical fuel pump, new NGK spark plug wires, new coil, spark plugs, condenser, and points.- Car will be sold with 79-83 Iron Cross wheels, nice center caps, and BRAND NEW 195/60/14 tires. These tires are mounted and balanced, and have ZERO miles on them. Steel wheels are not included. There is a full size (steel) spare in the hatch.- Decent front/rear bumpers for a driver- Decent cloth seats, nice steering wheel, and center console- OEM Original Hitachi AM/FM radio (untested)- OEM Original complete Datsun tool kit- Solid floors except soft spot at passenger's front
- Battery tray: after cleaning it out I found a hole on the fender edge a little bigger than a quarter.- Rear hatch area looks very good, with NO rust found inside the hatch area / spare tire area. There is some minor rust on the hatch closing surface as shown in the photos.
NOT SO GOOD:
- I can't get any spark. I replaced most of the minor electrical components as stated above. I started to clean the wire connections at the coil, distributor, etc. The next step I was planning to do was finish cleaning wire/ground connections and check the timing. I just don't have the time. If you have the patience and know how, she can be purring in no time.- There is rocker, dog leg, and front inner fender rust. I have found bondo on the rear wheel well lip, and the outer hatch around the key lock / push button. The car was originally orange, so I'm assuming some body work was done whenever it was painted silver.- Driver's door latch does not close shut; needs adjustment.- Ignition needs new key switch tumblers--key sticks in ignition (new switch is $29)
EXTRA SHEET METAL:
- New from Motorsport Auto 240z 260z 280z S30 complete driver's and passenger's side floor pans and frame rails. These are thick metal, made back in the day. These must be the floor pans and rails that MSA sold before they started selling the ones from Zedd Findings.- New driver's side rear quarter panel lower skin- Used OEM replacement driver's side fender (very very light use, still has Nissan sticker inside showing part number)- Used factory original passenger's side fender, inner surface rust only- Used inner and outer rockers
