Description

1971 Datsun 240z Series I. Built 12/70. Original CA Blue Plate Car.Driveable, currentlylicensed & insured. Engine #022839 which matches engine compartment tag. Car sat for many years. Gas tank flushed, new gas & cooling hoses, plugs, tuneup.New masters for clutch/brakes. New brake pads, rear wheel cylinders.

MECHANICAL:

Original Engine/Trans/Rear. Odometer shows 90027 but actual mileage unknown. Engine runs great, previous owner stated engine was rebuilt, but no proof. ! Engine compression 165-175 psi on cylinders. Pulls hardup to redline with no missing. Slight blue smoke out of exhaust if you are sitting & revving it up (valve seals?). Clutch is functional (would recommend replacement),shifts through gears smoothly with no grinding. Noclunks from rear end. New brake & clutch master cyl.Brakes work ok, but should probably be adjusted in rear.Original carbs with all new gas linehoses in engine compartment. Cooling system: Clean radiator, all new cooling hoses/thermostadt, runs cool, to left of middle of gauge. Oil pressure runs in middle of gauge when driving. All instrument gauges work except Speedometer & clock.Front & rear lightswork, turn signals work, emergency flashers work. Aftermarket front & rear sway bars. Aftermarket springs on original struts.Tireshave good tread, but are old & flat spotted. Car runs & drives out good, but should have more attention to systems to insure problem free driving. Exhaust system original, rusty, with hole in muffler.

Non-Functional: Speedometer, clock, dash lights, windshield wipers (you can hear motor wanting to go,probable corrosion at wiper arm mechanism which is typical for car that has been sitting.

BODY: Appears to have all originalbody panels. No sign of anymajor accidents. Only rust throughI have found is on passenger floorboard, one spot size ofsilver dollar, another size of a dime. Both floors do have surface rust. Slight bubbling of paint on rockers both sides, at rear of door area. No rust at rear hatch or hatch base. Surface rust in spare tire well. Quarter panels & fenders rust free. PAINT:Although pic'sappear to show redpaint is presentable, it was a horrible paint job with no prep & no cut ins.Original yellow paint in engine compartment & in door jams.

INTERIOR: Series I steering wheel. Complete console. *No radio. Heater works along with blower motors. Good headliner, not sagging. Good visors. All interior panels in rear in good condition. Door panels in good condition with exception of chrome coming off plastic strip. Seats obviously will need to be redone, rips in drivers seats. New Carpetkit. Dash cracked like they all do. Windshieldhas rock chip on drivers far left. Door glass & rear hatch in good condition. Windows go up & down well, regulators good.

All in all a nice original Z that with alittle work could be a dependable driver. Great candidate for full restoration givenlimited amount ofrust & all original drivetrain.
