Delorean - Blue Plate Original California car with manual gearbox
Description
Having had one lady owner from new until 2016, this Delorean has just received a complete overhaul and is now ready to drive cross country if needed.
The original owner bought this car new from Galpin Ford (San Fernando Valley) in California in 1984. She even remembered the name of the salesperson who sold her the car - a lady by the name of Becky Mallow. The car was only released to the dealer in 1984 as apparently all Delorean assets were put on-hold for the duration of the receivership.
The same owner drove this Delorean as her daily driver throughout the 1980's and 1990's and provided a stack of receipts and service records showing the thousands of dollars invested in keeping this car in impeccable condition throughout that period. She 'retired' the car to weekend only use in more recent years but had everything done to bring it back to like new condition.
Over the past year, the car has undergone a significant refurbishment making it a reliable and highly usable classic. Additionally, it has the more desirable manual gearbox. Turn the key and drive!
The body is in excellent condition with no dings or damage. Both front and rear fascias are in great condition (front was just repainted recently). The black louvered engine cover is in good condition but with a couple of tiny chips in the paint.
The interior is in excellent condition, the only minor item being a small section of the interior windshield surround having expanded causing a small bulge of the leather at the bottom of the windshield. The tach/rev counter is not reading accurately also.
The following work has been done to the car this year and I can provide videos of most of that work being done, if needed:
1. Full fuel system refurbishment including new fuel pump, new fuel sender, new fuel hoses, new fuel accumulator, new seals in the fuel distributor and a new fuel filter, with non-return fuel line valve added
2. Fluids flushed and replaced: engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, clutch fluid
3. Brake hoses replaced with new braided stainless steel hoses and brake rotors resurfaced
4. New master cylinder
5. New steering column bushing
6. Electrical system examined and tested
7. Front fascia freshly painted and new headlights installed
Overall the car drives beautifully and the engine pulls strong. Throughout it's life it has had all the major 'Delorean' weaknesses fixed such as rear engine seal, clutch disc and pressure plate, door and hood shocks etc. - the list is long and all the paperwork is available to confirm. A smog test was passed in October.
Again, this is one of those cars that is ready to be driven today and should not require any further maintenance for another year (depending on how far you drive it).
If genuinely interested, please send me your questions and I will answer as quickly as possible.
Please bid only if you intend to follow through if your bid wins. Remember this is a formal auction and the winning bidder enters into a contract to complete the purchase.
Best of luck with your bids. This is the perfect Holiday present for yourself .... or even someone else!
