Offered For sale by Classic Investments in Englewood, CO
The DeLorean DMC-12 has one of the greatest stories in automotive history. The DMC-12 was the brain-child of John DeLorean, one of the most important designers in American automobile history. The wedge shaped design was already pretty bold for a car coming from America at the time, adding the gullwing doors helped cement this car into history. Everyone knows about the DMC-12s movie history, further making the DeLorean into one of the most recognizable cars of all time.
This particular Delorean was purchased new in 1981, the first year of production for the DMC-12. It was used and cared for by that original owner until recently when we acquired it, through en estate. The car has been sitting for about 4 years, which is why it needs some servicing. Previously, the car has been maintained very well and actually presents as a much lower mileage car. It was always kept in a climate controlled garage along with many other European and Domestic sports cars. The car has an extra DeLorean v6 Included, as well as many NOS DeLorean parts. This is the first time this car has been offered for sale in 38 years.
The Fuel Injected PRV v6 Fires up right away and idles very smooth. The clutch and transmission work very well together and the drive-train operates exactly as you would expect. Some recent service has been done to the cooling system, including the installationof a NOS brand new radiator to ensure it has no problems with overheating for the new owner. Some more servicing and a fresh set of tires would be recommended to make this a reliable driver. The body on this car is in excellent condition. The grain on the stainless steel has very few imperfections and cleans up beautifully. The rear louvers are in near perfect condition, with no cracking or fading of any sort. The painted front and rear bumpers are in great shape with minimal imperfections.
The interior is also still in great shape. Both seats show some wear but there are no major scuffs or tears to be found. The plastics on the inside are still all intact and everything works. Even the A/C still blows cold! The hydraulic struts lift the doors up briskly and show no signs of letting go any time soon.
