1950 Desoto Deluxe Club Coupe. This was a project that my father and I have been working on over the years, and he just recently passed away. I've lost interest in it, and it really needs to go to someone who will finish and appreciate the beauty of this fine car.
It was originally sold at Desert Motors in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1949. As far as I can tell, it's always been a Nevada car for it's entire life. We purchased the car years ago and drove it, as is it was purchased for a number of years until we decided to restore it.
The engine, transmission (fluid drive) and differential were all rebuilt. A new clutch and fluid coupling were also installed during the rebuild. The entire brake system was gone through with a new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes and springs. Mechanically, the car is entirely done and really needs nothing. During the engine rebuild, the car was stripped down, all chrome trim removed, and it was repainted a dark burgundy. All chrome trim including the bumpers were rechromed and all stainless trim was polished. The interior metal and trim were repainted as well. Most of the gauges were replaced with NOS gauges at that time. There are brand new tires on the car, all hubcaps are there.
Basically the interior work needs to be done and you have a completely restored car! The door panels and seats are included with the car but need to be reupholstered. The cost of the engine rebuild and the chrome work far exceeds the opening bid, so bid accordingly. This car is also for sale locally, so I do reserve the right to end the auction early should it sell locally. If you have any questions concerning this car, please call me at 775 772 7504. Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements, it's no problem for me to assist with loading, etc. I might also be able to deliver within 500 miles for actual costs.
I took the time to fire the motor and it is now in running condition with a new battery. It runs quite nicely and smooth and it's no problem at all to drive it on a trailer!
