1955 DeSoto
I have had this car for several years. There is a lot of work into it.The car was very solid to start with. The trunk and floors are good. The body is still wearing original paint, except for the roof.I had the roof painted years ago, but the sun has gotten to it so it needs redone. The rest of the car, you can see just what is there. Some minor rust in quarters and wheel openings. Easy dent in pass door.
Here is the cool! This car has a fresh built 1956 DeSoto Hemi. DeSoto added 100 HP from 55 to 56, so this car should go pretty fast. Also coverted the iron 2 speed auto tranny to a 3 speed manual using all correct DeSoto parts including the shifter lever delete cover in the dash.
Bottom is painted. Has new dual exhaust.I was driving this car a few years ago, before the engine and tranny swap, and it cruised nicely at 70 mph with no wiggles or wobbles.
Needs finishing. The 56 engine has a 12 volt generator, and the rest of the car is 6 volt. So needs 6 v gen, or finish up the 12 v conversion. I have a full set of 56 instruments/gauges.The water pump has begun to leak from the weep hole, so that needs replacement.
The interior is done. Front seat is in the car, the rest needs install. The seats are solid red vinyl, instead of the red/white leather that was original. The door panels are done in red and white, with double nickel (55) Buffalo Head nickel button in place of the silly dot buttons that were original.
Finish this car. It will be awesome!
