1973 Dodge Challenger 340 4 speed numbers matching 1 of 1
Description
Want a Mopar project that you can drive and work on - that won't cost a fortune in rust repairs - and one that is sure to increase in value? Want something that has Hemi car rarity - at a fraction of the price? This Challenger IS that car!! It's a 1 of 1 in Gaylen Govier's registry!!! This 340 four speed Challenger is original, numbers matching and very complete - it runs and drives and is extremely solid! The engine puffs a little smoke when first started and the clutch throwout bearing is a little noisy at times, but overall, the car runs strong. The driver's side outside door handle can be stubborn sometimes and it has the usual squeaks / rattles that are expected from a 40+ year old car that is original, un-restored and has been driven & enjoyed. The only rust that I could find is on the driver's side rear wheel lip down low behind the tire (please see pic - the wheel opening trim hides it pretty well) + a couple of small holes behind the passenger side rear wheel opening. This Challenger is a Southern Oklahoma "native" - NOT from the rust belt - the floor pans are really nice and - while the body shows some surface rust here and there - it's still wearing what remains of it's original blue paint!! Interior is complete, original - and a little tattered; I put cheap seat covers on just to keep the upholstery from coming apart any further. All of the interior will need to be restored / replaced, unless you like the survivor look. Again, the floor pans are rock solid! Things that aren't correct / original: 1) the glass packs (I have new resonators that go with the car); 2) the flip open fuel door (I like it better than the original, but it's easily changed back); 3) the red line tires (I also have a set of original Mopar rally wheels with the correct tires that will be included). I'm sure that there are probably another trivial item or two, but nothing major. The fender tag, Gaylen's full report and the build sheet make for some GREAT documentation - this is one rare barn find Challenger!!
