Description

1968 Numbers Matching Dodge Super Bee

This is 1 of only 7,842 built, a numbers matching, complete car—it is a fairly low production total and the first year the Super Bee was offered. It is a post car, Lime-Light Green exterior w/Green interior, 383/auto trans, bench seat, column shift, 8.75 rearend Dodge Super Bee.The engine has not been run since 2003 when I purchased it.It was delivered to me with a new holley carb on it and I drove it into the garage, but did not buy the carb from the guy who sold me the car.The trans fluid also leaked out of the car after parked, so It was never fired again.Motor will turn. The carb on the car is correct Carter, but will need rebuilt.

The car is mostly apart and rolling so you can actually see what you are buying.Everything in the pictures is included with the car.The only thing it is currently missing is the plastic/fiberglass tail corners—I had them, but cannot find them after a couple moves. There are lots of parts with this car.I can help with loading, but please consider all the extra body panels that go with the car when arranging transport. We can negotiate my assistance in getting parts and/or car to you.I am also flexible on the pick-up assuming car is paid for.

The numbers:

The VIN is true, real Super Bee WM21.The fender tag matches the VIN and appears to be original to the car.The body stampings on radiator core support and trunk lip match the VON on the fender tag.The 383 engine is stamped with the last 5 of the VIN on the block at the rear of driver’s side where it should be for 1968.The 727 transmission part number is stamped on the driver’s side of the trans, above the pan where it should be and is the correct part number for the car.Additionally the build date following the part number, 17 April 1968, is very close to the build date of the car 30 April 1968.There is not VIN stamped on the from pad below the fill tube and that is consistent with most transmissions in 1968.

The body:

The driver’s side quarter is very rusty. The car comes with an NOS driver’s quarter and outer fender well. The trunk is also very rusty, but a 2-piece trunk pan and trunk extensions are included with the car.The passenger quarter is in much better shape. It comes with a lower rear patch panel, but may also need a lower front patch that does not come with the car.The rockers are not great, but new rockers are also included. The driver’s side front fender is in pretty good shape and should not need and rust patching—it was added before I bought it and came off of a Coronet 440 from CA (trim holes will need closed).Passenger side front fender may need lower patch (not included in the car), but may be fixable. The rear panel and deck lid are little rusty and may be salvageable. There is an additional set of complete doors that go with the car so you can chose from them—none are perfect, but I think all could be fixed.Hood is in great shape as are shock towers and there is a very clean additional lower grille included with the car.Window channels all look good and show minimal/no rust--definitely no cancer in this area as these cars are known for.Cowl and firewall also look very good--no rust.

The frame:

Front and rear frame rails do not show any signs of cancer rust at any visible spot. The car was an originally undercoated car, so some of the undercoating has cracked off, but cannot see any frame rot or any other frame issues. No evidence of frame repair or accident damage.

The interior:

The interior is all there. Most of it needs reconditioning/restored, but it is all there. Both front and rear seats are in the car.Front split bench seat will need cushions and cover and rear will need at least cover.Dash and all interior trim are in boxes that go with the car. Most of the dash could be used as is unless you are looking for a concourse resto (other than the top dash pad—it’s shot).Original door panels are included but are slightly warped. The chrome/stainless door panel trim is like new. There are a perfect set of door handles (inside and out) also included. The arm pads are bad or non-existent.Odometer reads 8,816 which I’m sure was rolled at least once.

The trim:

Front grill and all surrounding trim is in very good shape and could be used on a restored car.The tail lights and taillight chrome are next to perfect--I bought very lightly used taillight chrome pieces and they are the nicest chrome on the car (as close to perfect as you’re going to find in a used part). The stainless trim around the tail panel is also very nice.Outside rearview mirror is very nice, but not perfect.Hood chrome inserts will need rechromed or replaced. All stainless window trim is included and all useable with a little cleaning—cannot see any dings or bends.Wheel well trim is bad and will need to be completely replaced. The “DODGE” letters for the rear panel were garbage and trashed.I am missing the side marker lights and the tail panel corners—think they were packaged together and I have not been able to locate them.Tires are good for roller, but not drivable any distance (car does not run, so not a big issue).Three of the wheels are 15x7 and one is 15x6 I think (all the junk yard had, but finding a matching 15x7 should be cheap and easy). All wheels are useable with light surface rust. There is a nice set of dog-dish (not 68s, but 70s) hubcaps and trim rings. Front turn signals/parking lights and housings are very, very nice used pieces. Four headlights are also included in the purchase.Gas tank comes with the car and may or may not be useable.

Overall this is a restorable example of a low-production run in the first year Super Bees were available. It will take some body work, but I think most of the NOS panels are included. There are thousands of dollars in parts alone with the car.I am available to answer any questions at 301-919-6921.The car is available for inspection in NE Ohio.Car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction if the car sells.I have clear OH title in my name and in hand. I have over 150 pictures of the car, so it there is something you want a picture of that is not on the add, please let me know.
