Description

RELISTED! MOTIVATED SELLER!

FOR SALE:1963 Dodge 440 model 2 door hard top Poly 318 2bbl 727 push button automatic with 8 3/4" rear end ~ DRIVES NICE AND QUIET ON OUR TEST DRIVE! This car has a 318 "A" engine, this means, it's a 318 polyspherical motor, nicknamed the 318 wide block, the poly 318, and the "Semi-Hemi" Does not smoke, shake, rattle or lurch! Car has all original badges, bumpers, grille and body trim... One rear passenger-side trim corner-end is missing, near rear bumper, and that is the only piece missing! It's all in really good condition considering its age, with impossible to find window-surrounds (exterior and interior). If you have to source 1963 interior/dash/trim/grille/727 and hangers/brackets/misc. parts piece by piece - good luck! Car comes with the original 8 3/4" REAR END - another highly sought after element on these great historical bits of nostalgia.

White exterior paint looks chalky in most areas showing through to an almond paint color. There are no obvious sign of newly replaced body parts from any fender benders. The trunk floor needs to be replaced, that's a typical sight with rust holes at rear window. We used a simple magnet to check car for hidden bondo build up and didn't identify any problematic areas, this is another good sign! The only body repairs visible are on trunk lid. We've included a photo of that. Overall, a very complete original. This is good, because you wont have to spend a fortune to undo what another did poorly... This is originally a California car, having been up here in the Pacific Northwest for less than a decade.

Steering wheel has a great and consistent original patina. Original seat belts, original carpet, original bumpers and no obvious horrors that we could see... Original wide plastic carpet protector on the floors of the original split bench front seats, nice unbutchered dash assembly. Age is apparent with the soft vinyl areas breaking down over the glove box area, but all original metal dash frame/structure is in good condition. An inexpensive cassette tape AM/FM radio added in the 1990s, but this is a body with no antenna, so someone added an aftermarket antenna on pass fender, it's the wrong location and it's at the wrong angle... not factory.

As a 2 door hard top, these smaller bodies are widely used for resto-mod racers and historically restored clones of the famous MaxWedge cars. Just add money on top of mo' money, but it really helps to start that whole process with an unmolested original.

Rust bubbles in typical spots, lower body behind wheel wells, around rear window, below the front grille and under the car has a consistent layer of surface rust. Door panels are not too bad, aged more in rear. Original seat fabric inserts are giving away due to age, that's why there are seat covers on front, it's simply crumbling, but great seat cores! Even the headliner looks good and original! The front visors have seen better days.

At NAMCmopar, North American Muscle Cars, we are MOPAR mechanical and restoration specialists. Customer held on to this car as a secondary parts option when he was restoring his MaxWedge racer... This car is very original, nothing was used from this car for the MaxWedge project, it was just too "original" to cut up, so he saved it for you! This Dodge is looking for a new home. We've included the maximum number of photos, please send in your questions, stop in to our shop and check it out for the duration of the listing, we can go on a test drive in our yard, but no plates for driving on the road... It always starts right up when we need to move it.
