Description

1957 DODGE CUSTOM ROYAL D-500 EARLY DODGE MUSCLE AT ITS FINEST !! YEAH,IT'S GOT A HEMI!! 325 CUBIC INCH/285 HORSEPOWER! PUSH BUTTON TORQUE FLITE TRAMSMISSION!! STUNNING RED AND WHITE IN MOSTLY ORIGINAL PAINT ONE OF ONLY A HANDFUL IN EXISTANCE!!
In 1957 the Custom Royal was the absolute top of the line Dodge and the D-500designation further rarified the air by dropping in a 325 cubic inch Hemi with a carter 4-barrel carburetor.with 285 horse power, once the D-500 option checked the heavy dut, push-button TorqueFlite automatic transmission was installed by default. The D-500 option also included a true dual exhaust system,a heavy-duty air cleaner, and heavy-duty dual point distributor. Big news for the 1957was the all new Torsion-aire suspension: an independent system torsion bar system that included "anti-dip" upper and lower control arm, shock absorbers and anti-rollbar. complementing the front was a rear leaf-spring suspension with shock absorbers. Each of 2.50-inch wide five leaf springs measured 55 inches in length and the rear differential was mounted forward of center to reduce spring wind-up during hard acceleration. This beautiful and rare piece of Chryslers Hemi powered history has been lovingly maintained and is ready to show or drive!! With so produced and even fewer surviving, this D-500 stands to see great increases in value in the near future!we will be happy to give you a complete walk-around, supply you with more detailed description and answer any questions you may have.
We also have the original broadcast sheets, one was found when the radio was taking out for repairs and the other was found between the frame rails and floorpan !! Past winner at "Chrysler At Carlisle"

Thanks to some knowledgeable Mopar experts who have pointed out the paint code on the broadcast sheet shows the car was originally all white. So at some point in the 90's the car had some paint work done very professionally in the original lacquer paint to make it a two tone red and white. The current owner assumed it came that way but never investigated as he bought the car because of the quality of the car and the fact that he had bought a nearly identical car, new in 1957. We apologize for any misrepresentation, we were only posting what we were told by the current owner. The previous owner had removed the factory undercoating and painted the underside and detailed the engine bay for show purposes. The interior and drivetrain are original and unrestored.
