Description

1936 DODGE BROTHERS PICKUP FULLY RESTORED - ONLY 74,544 MILES!
How often do you see one of these? This immaculate 1936 Dodge LC 1/2-ton pickup has been with the same family in Wisconsin since the mid-50's and went through a frame-off restoration in 2006. It has its original motor along with its original cowl tag with matching frame stamp, making for a neat piece of history as well as a beautiful truck!
This rare example is straight and solid throughout. The frame is rust-free, having been stripped and painted during restoration. The body is all steel except for the running boards!
The two-tone paint scheme is 100% show quality. The whitewall radial tires with matching spare are a nice touch too. There are many other neat original vintage items such as the glass headlight and taillight lenses, Ram hood ornament, and Dodge Brothers emblem. The crank-out windshield and cowl vent are both functional as well!
The engine is the ORIGINAL T23 201 cubic-inch straight six, factory rated at 70 hp. This flathead has been completely rebuilt and runs great with a manual choke and pushbutton start. It starts up flawlessly and purrs like new. There is also the factory 3-speed manual transmission and 4-wheel drum brakes. Suspension components have been rebuilt. The electrical system remains 6V positive ground and has a new reproduction wiring harness throughout!
The interior has the unique Dodge look with the center mounted speedometer. The bench seat and steering wheel has been replaced with a more modern piece, and a set of aftermarket oil pressure, water temp, and battery amp gauges has been mounted under the left side of the dash. The truck has a clear title with matching VIN (engine number)!
There's a real beauty to trucks from this era. With all their curves, style, and character they are far cry from today's modern pickups. Not only does this Dodge look fantastic but all the hard work has been done, making it ready for another 80 years of service!
HISTORY OF THE 1936 DODGE PICKUP:
In 1936, Dodge entered the large truck arena with "D" series trucks (as in "MD.") They had "Fore-Point load distribution," similar to Cab Forward, in that the front axles were moved forward so they carried more weight, increasing stability. Moving the engine and cab forward increased the usable bed space.
Dodge started to use a modern truck-style frame was adopted in half-ton pickups for the first time, with side rails welded to cross members, dropping the old car frames.
The engine was unchanged, producing 70 horsepower from 201 cubic inches, with a unsynchronized three-speed manual transmission. Performance was aided by steep rear axle ratios. The one ton pickups stayed in production, moving to the new platform, and selling for the same price as the big truck.
