1947 DODGE RAT ROD PICKUP
Description
This is a 1947 Dodge Rat Rod. It is mounted on a 1988 S10 Pickup frame with a 355 cu in engine with Roller rockers, Roller cam, Edelbrock Intake, and Edelbrock carburetor. It has a Performance distributor, headers, and Flow Master exhaust.
It is equipped with a newly rebuilt 350 turbo transmission with a 2800 Stall converter. It is equipped with a Lokar cable shifter.
It is equipped with a Chevrolet rear end with a 3.73 posi-traction. The front suspension has disc brakes, and the rear is on drums.
The body is a 1947 Dodge pickup that was purchased by a farmer in 1947. The pickup was used until 1956, and then it just sat beside the shop. I was really surprised when I started cleaning it all up, that the truck had no rust. The inside of the truck was red. There is no rust on the floor and the doors work perfectly. The body had a few dents and a few cracks from driving across fields. During the years they took time to weld some of the cracks on the rear fenders, and they still look good today. Lots of cool patina. I put the pan that goes from fender to fender under the tailgate. I used vinegar to give the same patina as the rest of the truck. By installing the body to the frame, I removed 7 1/2 inches from the front portion of the frame. I used vinegar to give it patina on the seams -- if you want more patina, just spray on more vinegar. I changed all the gauges inside and added some toggle switches, lights, and extra things. It has the original horn.
It has bucket seats, new carpeting, brand new factory headliner, all new glass, the windshield cranks out, and the door windows work manually and have all original hardware.
I used as much as I could from the S10. I started by using the steering column, all the wiring, brake booster and brake pedal assembly. The brakes work very well, and the steering works like it has power steering.
There is a clear title for this pickup.
