Description

1961 Dodge Lancer four door sedan. 770 model,170 CI slant six engine, torqueflite six pushbutton operated automatictransmission. Manual steering, manual drum brakes.Good driver qualityin the areasof sheetmetal integrity, interior, and drivetrain/driveability.Lower doors have some bubbling under the paint; there is surface rust in the rockers. Body workis primed andsealedin the rear quarters, thestrip below the trunk lid,and the lower valance below the rear bumper. These areas were not rusted, but had some dings and dents. The area below the gas cap is discolored due to gas spillage on newer paint.Thepassenger side front fender is missing the trim spear below the body line. No major damage or any accidents that have affected driveability. The car is tight; weatherstripping has been replaced around doors, and trunk. Windows roll up and down easily, doors shut well.I have found no rust in the trunk floor, floor pans, orlower quarters. The interior has been redone at some point, and has held up well. There are a couple small holes and some discoloration in places (along the edges)on the white headliner (sun visors were redone as well); the seats, door panels, and carpeting are good driver quality. The dash/instrument clusterisin good shape. An aftermarket am/fm/cd player was added, with the original radio left in the dash, and the box built for the cd player tastefully done. The instruments are functional, save for the fuel gauge (faulty gas tank sending unit float;gauge was working properly when I purchased the car). The heater and blower controls work properly. The heater core was recored, new thermostat, and engine water pump. The interior lights all work, including the lighted push button controls. As to driveability, the Lancer drives straight, accelerates, handlesandstops well(all drum brakeshoes were replaced). Transmission shiftssmoothly and at proper points in acceleration. Fourteen inch wheels replace the original thirteens, brand new tires. As mentioned, I replaced the cooling system components, and fixed theexhaust heat riser valve. Added a heat riser from later slant six to aircleaner system, to pipe hot manifold airdirectly to the air cleaner. New points, distributor cap/rotor, and spark plugs. Transmission leaks, needs resealed. The passenger windshield wiper post needs replaced. A good used replacement is included. The original service manual is included with sale. The original taillights come with the car.The sale of the car with this auction includes the following conditions: 1) the car is sold as is 2) the buyer will provide shipping 3) a payment of500 dollars is due at time of sale, with the remainder ofpurchase price due within one week (seven days) of close of auction.
